What state is your K98k in ??

In about two months i will recieve a K98k and a Swedish M96 myself, I have already bought some surplus ammunition for them.

S.m.K. and normal S.s. bullets for the K98k.

    Best regards, KBO.

I already paid the guy who owns them, now its his job to get them nice and shiny ! 8)

He promised me a new barrell for the Swedish M96, because its previus owner had used corrosive ammunition for it, so the barrell wasnt in good condition as he didnt clean it after firing.

I sure hope i can hit that 10cm circle with them, when i need to get a hunting permission for them !!

    Regards, KBO.

The K98k is in good condition. It's a Gustloff Werke 1944. It was one the many rifles captured by the Soviets and cleaned up and stored away after the war. It has the original stock (appears to be birch) but the bolt is non-matching. It has the Soviet capture mark- X on a few parts. It also has the Nazi waffenampts still intact.

It's a good shooting rifle capable 1 1/2 groups at 100 yards with 200gr match bullets.

    Thanks for the compliments. :D

The K98k i bought was initially stored by a Danish farmer, who got it from a retreating German soldier in 45, in exchange for food !

It has all the original stampings from 42 (if i remember correctly), and it is in very good condition. There was also a muzzle-flap with it, wich was used to prevent durt from getting into the barrell, a very nice little bonus feature ! 8)

Sounds like you're getting a really nice rifle.

What all is involved, legally, in buying/owning guns there?

I have thought about obtaining a weapons permit, but I've always been deterred by the Danish laws (having read the weapons law, it seems pretty limiting). Do you just go to the police station, or what?

No no no !! I have a Hunting 'and' rifle license myself, without it you can't own a weapon in Denmark let alone a rifle !

The easiest way to get a weapons-license is to get a Hunting license, and then after that a rifle license. (Offcourse If your a Policeman , then you get as a part of your job ;) )

You need the hunting license first, then a weapons license for Shotgun's and other pellet weapons is automaticly given to you. After that you can take a rifle license, but you'll be required to hit a 10cm circle at with whatever rifle you own at 100m to get through, and offcourse theres the obligatory theories-tests to pass to.

There are strickt rules about owning a weapon in Denmark, and they are pretty complicated, as a matter of fact i think its harder to get a hold of a Pistol than a rifle in Denmark ! (That is why i do not have a Pistol anymore, at least not legally ;) )

The reason i need to go to the police with these two weapons, is because they are not registered with the danish police, wich all weapons in Denmark need to be :!: (or else they arent legal!)

    Best regards, KBO.

In Spain they are fairly easy to find (or the Spanish version). Wartime german ones have seen prices climb steadily since the movie ENEMY AT THE GATES apeared (even Nagants cost three times as much). German Mausers now cost around 600€ WITHOUT any special markings.

One of the guys at my unit has a Mauser with SS markings built at Mathausen. He even got an original scope mount.

I have an Inland 1942 M1 carbine, and a .30-30 lever action Winchester, and two modern black powder revolvers.

Well K98k's aint that common in Denmark, as a matter of fact they are very rare in Denmark !

And I consider myself 'very' lucky to be able to get a hold of both a K98k and a Swedish M96 Mauser !

    Best regards, KBO.

Btw Christian you can actually get a K98k even without a weapons-license ! You just need to get it registered with the police, but here comes the bad part "You can't have the rifle's bolt ! :-? " So my advise would be "Get a Hunting license !"

    Best regards, KBO.
