So which were the medals and awards in Russian army? How anybody hasnt discsussed anything about it yet? Which was the highest level medal?
The Sovjet-Union had many different medals and orders. They had different campaign medals for indeed the defence of Stalingrad, but also Leningrad and Moskow. For an overview Sovjet-Union medals I would recommend to have a look here: World War 2 Awards.com - U.S.S.R. You will find there information about different medals and order of the Sovjet-Union and the receipients! :thumb: Best Regards, Sebastiaan
That's a pretty good site and ive used it often but--still lacking in certain departments--such as--a list of Recipients for the Distinguished Service Cross--which I have access to most of the known names--still not complete and there are around 10,000 recipients. That's just one off the top of my head--but there are others. For instance--depending on whom you believe? either Dorr or Angolia--the number of Close Combat Clasps in Gold Recoipients can be from 633 to 690-somehting recipients. The German Cross in Gold recipients can number from between over 27,000 to up to about 33,000 recipients. Scherzers book is good-but lots of bad or lack of info in it.
Highest medal? Hero of the Soviet Union. Simple five pointed gold color star suspended from a red ribbon.
