I've heard of tactical aircraft line F-84s or A-4s doing this, seems like a stretch for a larger aircraft. Do we know if this was a trial, or standard procedure?

"Today's rarity is this German mortar carrier based on the French AMR 35 light tank. More specifically, it is based on the tropical version, the ZT4. Forty ZT4 hulls were built in 1939/40. It seems the Germans converted some to carry their standard 8.1cm mortar."

Reminds me of Calvin's father's reply to the query as to how they knew how much load a bridge could take.
