We are on ther brink of nothing;.nothing is holy, everyone will be killed. Bad Call Russians. You started it. No one gets home now. Killing civilians was a bad move. It will not end until those responsible are in Hague notice Bosnia war. Referring to I did not order it will not help.I only followed orders let me laugh and what happened to them. Looks like the Russian Army might be able to launch their Eastern Ukraine operation any day now. Lots of new troops and the new commander. Mariupol informed that they are running out of ammo, is it the cruel fact or a trap? They sure had time to mine the area. Btw In Bosnia they are still clearing the mined areas so I would expect the Ukraine Army have had pockets full from the USSR period.
Jesus. Finland and Sweden are considering joining NATO possibly and already Putin says there will be consequences if we do that. I guess Finland is led by neo-nazis and drugusers, then. That is not very nice talk from you man. Quite offensive, actually. You are losing personal points again.
Big talk by Putin. His militaries deficiencies have come to the forefront, how badly will they be thumped by a modern western army? Their inability to logistically support offensive operations longer than a short period on limited axis of advance won't be corrected in the short term. The lack of ability to execute small unit, dispersed operations has been a known weakness since at least the early 1980's. Lack of operational flexibility at lower levels is another long known weakness. The nuclear card is his only real threat at present. The Ukrainians had received a lot of joint training from US and Nato military personnel in the last several years that they've put to good use. This is long but well worth the watch as to Russia's strategic aims and motivations.
Putin just lost part of his strategy. (CNN)One of the Russian Navy's most important warships has sunk in the Black Sea, a massive blow to a military struggling against Ukrainian resistance 50 days into Vladimir Putin's invasion of his neighbor. Russian state news agency TASS reported Thursday evening that the guided-missile cruiser Moskva had sunk, citing a statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense. "During the towing of the cruiser Moskva to the port of destination, the ship lost its stability due to hull damage received during a fire from the detonation of ammunition. In the conditions of stormy seas, the ship sank," the statement said, according to TASS. CNN - Breaking News, Latest News and Videos At least it wasn't Ukraine's fault.
I read that Russia accuses Ukraine for bombing a Russian city. 7 people wounded including a young child. Horrible news if even true.... How many cities have Russia bombed and civilians killed in Ukraine?
The Russian's are playing it off as an accidental detonation of munitions, in fact the Ukrainian's hit it with two Neptune anti-ship missiles. To wade through the propaganda look at the known facts. 1.) Ukraine claimed to have hit the ship, by name, (initially claimed they had sunk it) a full day before the Russians came out with the "accidental fire" story. How would they have known of the accident in order to make a false attack claim? 2.) Other vessels in the Russian Black Sea fleet have been moved back, out of range of Ukrainian shore missiles. Why make this move if something had not precipitated the action? Is it just coincidence that the Russians have an "accidental ammunition detonation and fire" and move their fleet further away from shore? The Russians early on reported in TASS that there was an ammunition detonation and fire that forced the ship to be abandoned. They did not state the cause of the detonation, they also stated that all the missile launchers were still operational, which would pretty much preclude the most likely cause of an accidental ammunition explosion, a mishap during firing or reloading (the missile launchers on Moscova were not reloadable, but in general mishaps while loading/reloading are where accidents occur). 3.) Originally, when they thought they could save the ship they didn't push the "accidental explosion" narrative. 4.) The ship was operating 60-65 miles off of the Ukrainian coast, the missile launch platforms normally operate some distance inland, optimally @16 miles, and the missile has a range of 190 miles. It is interesting that during adoption trials they routinely hit targets at 62 miles off the coast. 5.) The Ukrainians have already sunk a Russian Landing ship, the Alligator class Saratov, and damaged two others with missile strikes.
The story holds water. There was a ammunition explosion. Just not Russian ammunition. I'm hoping there are a large number of pissed off swabbie mommas to join with the ground-pounders and fly-boy and put some pressure the oligarchy.
Wonder if the Russians have any kinda battleship called "Putin". Would love to read Putin sank... I recall Germans named "Deutschland" to was it ""Bulow" because Germany cannot sink..
Close, she was renamed Lutzow shortly after her sister ship Graf Spee was lost. The name Lutzow was available because the Hipper class cruiser of that name had been sold to the Russians; this was in the period of cooperation under the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. Deutschland had been the first of the "pocket battleships"; at the time the name seemed appropriate for a new, innovative, prestigious ship. As you say, the symbolism might have been a bit different in wartime.....
The Russians have a habit of claiming their superiority and then proving their inferiority. I wasn't surprised Putin / Russia disavowed the Ukraine missile attack, then he would have had to retaliate in kind and he's proven the best Russia can do is terrorism style warfare. Attacking civilian infrastructure while getting your ass kicked then lying about it shows just how good a politician he is. Well that and the Dictatorship he's managed to acquire. On another note: Ukraine is going to have to introduce a New postage stamp. One showing the ship going down..
The Russians are revenging the flagship loss by bombing Kiev last night. And more threats from Kreml. The Ukrainians attacked a military target, the Russians bomb civilians. Clear terror attacks by the Soviets to bring Ukraine on it's knees.
I am sorry to ask this as it will bring bad memories to some, even tears. Is the Neptune more efficient than the French Exocet against naval targets? And in case have the French developed something better? I was blown away by it in the 80's and thought it was total destruction to any ship it was sent to sink....I know it has been 40 years since but I felt it enough forever. Thanx for any answers.
Hard to say if it is more efficient, as both missiles have not really been used under wartime conditions often enough. That being said, the Neptune does have greater range & a warhead almost double the weight of the Exocet. The French have continued to improve the Exocet over the years. Every one was...The first real sea-skimmer that could be a threat to modern naval air defense systems. But, the reality of combat mostly changed that perception. First, it tended not to detonate it's warhead - with most damage coming from residue fuel burn. Second, was it's failure to sink warships, both in the Falklands & the the USS Stark. Even the Sheffield survived for some days afterward. For me, in the 80's, the fear was the big supersonic carrier killers; Sandbox, Sunburn & Shipwreck.
Saw a document by the British a couple of years ago and if I got it right the anti-Exocet missile had some 7-10 seconds to be launched from the moment the radar noticed it. I would guess you had to have a computer automatic response, you just cannot turn around and ask for permission to launch counter measures. Human response being too slow.
Interesting that the Russians don´t know how the west is sending the weapons to Ukraine as they earlier said they would bomb the arms convoys before they reach the Ukraine army. Instead they bomb civilians.
On Saturday Kreml told the Press that Mariupol had been taken. Then during the Saturday/Sunday night they told they give time to surrender in Mariupol until Sunday afternoon. If they surrender, their lives will be saved. How come can Russia say if they don't surrender now, you will be killed even if you tried to surrender later on. That sucks. The US have stated that the latest promised military equipment has been arriving in Ukraine. Glad to see the Russian intel still don't see it coming. I hope they keep their heads in their a**** for a long time.
Russia has Lost its eighth General in the Ukraine battles. General Vladimir Frolov was buried on Saturday in St Petersburg. Putin's little operation seems to be quite deadly to the Russian Army.
If I'm not mistaken, there are some suspicions that Ukrainians are deliberately targeting Russian generals. Either that, or generals are having to go to the frontline - perhaps to shore up soldiers' morale, which if true may indicate that Russian Army is in rather bad shape.
