Thought I’d better introduce myself, as you may have seen me already posting and asking “who the heck is this guy”……

So, I’m retired Canadian Military (18 years in Canadian Military Engineers) and then 17 years in Canadian Public Service, with the RCMP (as a civilian, Director of Assets & Procurement)…….now I spend my time travelling, and doing military research for people. I like to help people discover their relatives, friends, anyone’s military service and have helped 100’s over the years by assisting in Research or pointing the way for them to find records etc (all for FREE)….I’ve worked on files for Canadian’s, American’s, British, Australians, New Zealand etc etc etc…..so over the years I’ve come to know “where” to find information on line and in official (and not so official) records. I research all time periods, from the 1900’s onward (South Africa, WW1, WW2, etc) and of course willing to research any countries archives etc.

I also help other researcher’s in their quest for information. I’ve done a lot of work helping another researcher find American’s who served in the RAF/RCAF/Cdn Army etc etc

I “work” (if you can call it that) on various websites (Wartimes.ca, ww2talk.com and now hopefully this one). For the past few years I’ve been “building” a document with the help & permission of members of ww2talk.com on the Canadian Landings on Juno Beach….its an “ongoing” project as I find new information, or others give me clues etc. I’ve posted the link to the document on this site (so all can use it)……., it’s in the Normandy Landing thread, under Juno Beach. When I post a new update, I change the version number on the cover page.

I’ve also done a lot of work on Nominal Rolls (Canadian) and Convoys (NA to UK and back mostly), soldiers, sailors and airmen…..always looking for a new challenge (don’t alway succeed, but I try) and have over 100GB of data saved on my own computer (actually carry them with me on a flash drive)

So, if anyone needs my help……you can find me here, or on the other websites I visit, I use the same name so you can find me quickly on all if you need help

Cheers, and hopefully chat to some of you soon

Welcome. There was some fear that we'd been invaded by another spammer since the links appeared without any further explanation.

Quite an impressive introduction, BTW WW2Talk is WW2F's sister site.

Thank you. Yes I was aware of the link between the two sites. In fact I originally “joined” this site in Jan 2021, but I’ve been so busy on the other sites I just didn’t get back to this one until now. Thank you for the welcome……and I’ll see if I can be more “talkative” when I post. I’ve talked to Otto in the past, as the site I originally was on “went down” (Canada at War) and we tried to resurrect it and in fact I tried to purchase the site, but the owners (and site admin) said NO……so a lot of data and information was “lost to the virtual void” I guess.

I’m looking forward to helping (if I can)

    Cheers

Cheers Barry, very glad to have you posting here. Ignore any comments about spam, your great reputation and massive contributions precede you. I'm happy to let your have your very own section of the site.

    Welcome aboard Sir! :s!:

Speaking of which, there is an account here on WW2F created in 2015 with the username Temujin. The email used for the account is very clearly you. I'm very happy to give you your original account with your correct Temujin nom-de-guerre, just say the word and I'll sort out the merge.

Thank you Otto. I’ve been away on a Alaska cruise and tried to answer you on the above but wifi was spotty on ship……so I would like to have my “name” back, so if you wish to merger the two accounts that will be great. I’m not sure if I need my own section on the site, need to think about that and see what I can bring that’s different to other threads. As you know I do like to help anyone who needs research help, I concentrate on Canada, but I’ve done others from all over the world before, so like to keep and “open help” line……so I’ll get back to you on the “very own section”

    Thank you

OK, I have merged the accounts, your original account name is in place. You will need to reset your customary profile pic. I also had to update the email to your @cox.net address, so you may need to reset your password as well.

I've sent you an email as well to ensure we get this sorted.
