I'm a bit stuck on Germany having better financial reserves than the British Empire...

I'm looking for a scenario that would be at all likely.

How are you stuck on something that no one here said?

Why? None of us are proposing that or that there was a really viable way that could have happened, short of the Nazis not being Nazis, the Japanese not being stuck in an imperialist mindset, and no Alien Space Bats intervening.

You continue to have a mistaken notion of how these things get debated. No, you do not propose a radical alternative history and then receive a chorus of "atta boy" and "no one ever thought of that" and "spiffy notion" from all and sundry. The way it works is that you propose an idea, others then either provide supporting or contradicting factsand ideas for why or why that might or might not work and what else might need to change to make it work.

You are the one advocating for the idea, so come with a way it could have happened that does not involve handwaving some hundreds of years of actual history away.

We will challenge anything anyone posts, freely. But this isn't poster art, it's a discussion board. Be worried when you post something nobody bothers to reply to.

Wouldn't this end up like WWI, with sales to Germany cut off by the British blockade? That blockade had extended to foodstuffs, and we had set the precedent of accepting it. Granted it would spare the Germans expending their dollar and gold reserves.

One of my great aunts left me enough money to buy a brand new1970 Mustang Boss 429. I drove it for three months then left for boot camp. When I came back the Y-donor had forged my name and sold it. Didn't have any of the money left according to him.

You see the reason why I am done is because it is difficult for one person to come up with a situation and then the usual 24 people come on and declare that it can't happen.
You see the reason I opted out is that I have faced this kinda stuff before on other alternative history sites and it is these individuals that shut down anyone who want to take up the challenge as it were to participate.
However there are individuals that come on alternate history AND THIS IS PART OF THIS SITE were talking about, they run roughshod over anyone who wants in on the action.
You see these individuals think they are privileged and are above anyone else, they're so hell bent in shutting down debate, they HATE folks like me, who have active imaginations and try to add what they can in the argument. But no, they have never heard of the butterfly effect. It is they that are beyond the point they want the website all to themselves, to the EXCLUSION OF OTHERS.

This doesn't seem to have been touched on, but in this scenario an "Allied" victory would seem to mean Russia taking over more of Europe. Britain could carry on the Mediterranean campaign, the bomber offensive, and various operations around the periphery; but a major incursion into western Europe would only be possible if Germany's situation in the east was so dire that Hitler had to drastically weaken his western forces.

Without active American involvement, it would appear that there was not going to be any great liberation of German-occupied Europe, which would discourage the Free ____ forces as well as resistance movements.

With America focused almost entirely on Japan, that war would progress more rapidly. There would be one key constraint: the numbers of aircraft carriers necessary for the Central Pacific offensive would still not be available until late 1943. There would be more emphasis on the South and Southwest Pacific, potentially extending into the East Indies. The British wanted to regain their eastern colonies, and they would prefer to be seen to accomplish this by their own efforts rather than having control handed back to them (assuming it was) by the US defeating Japan. Once they had reopened the Mediterranean sea route, and with minimal prospects for decisive action on the continent of Europe, might they redeploy more of their forces to the Far East?

Our scenario assumes the continuation of Lend-Lease, but a primarily naval-amphibious war for the US might mean competition for some items such as escort carriers, Liberator and Catalina long-range aircraft, LSTs and landing craft, which would be in high demand for the Pacific.

(Begin quickly thought out idea) If a solution for the fuel/bomb/parts problem (getting all that to eastern China "over the Hump") was found or developed the number of carriers wouldn't be as large, I think. If the US Army Air Force wasn't bombing Europe the B-17s, for example, could bring bombs in to the forward staging areas. A bomber was the best way to carry bombs anywhere speedily. If they weren't going into "Indian Territory" the guns, turrets, gunners, etc., could be left behind.(End quickly thought out idea)

Interesting thought. I must admit I've never considered the supply effort "over the Hump" a very good use of resources, but perhaps if we have resources to burn...... It's literally on the other side of the world; before the Med was open, US to India around Africa or Australia was about the longest sea voyage you could make without starting to circumnavigate your way back home. I basically think we should have confined it to the minimum necessary to keep China in the war. However our current scenario might be a different situation; the US would actually be looking for ways to bring all of its resources to bear against Japan.
