Mitsubishi A6M2 (Zeke) not a bad kit, an old kit but with relatively good Tamiya quality with good fit and very little flash. But the decals are not too good. I had to soak them in warm water for about 45 seconds for them to slide off the backing and then some didn’t apply well. The holes in the bottom of the wings should have been deeper so when inserting the struts that you have a secure fit. I used Tamiya extra thin cement and I have it resting on this box until the glue sets firmly, otherwise the landing gear will sag or even collapse. But I have had this with other Tamiya kits too. I did not use all the decals provided to make it exactly historically correct. Not for a beginner I would say but overall a fun build which did not lend to any amount of swearing.
If it wouldn’t take this forum so damn long to open and the server responding, then perhaps I would not be clicking twice and having double images. This is the only one in the world that gives me trouble.
Great work! I'm not too enamored with my first Tamiya model. A P47 Razorback wouldn't you know! The fuselage seemed kind of flimsy and cowling to fuselage fit was , shall I say a bit challenging. But that could be my old age and fussy eyesight. PBR not withstanding. I can understand the suggestion of using Tamiya ultra thin glue = it doesn't take much !! Setting it aside for now and put in a request for Christmas for a Revell B25J !

I understand, most Tamiya model kits are engineered very well but once in a while I think you can get a “dud”. With Revell I have built their F4U-4 Corsair model aircraft and the wings to wing roots was a horrible fit. Years ago I built their P-51 Mustang and the wing to fuselage left a large gap which I filled in with putty. This last Tamiya Zero that I built had no gaps. I have said it before but at almost 80 I am just about done with this hobby. Been at it off and on since around 1957. And for that matter I have no more room on the mantle or shelves or nightstand or bookcases. I have 16 of them sitting around and do not care to toss any of them in the trash, which I have done in the past.
My F4u is from a Revell kit that an old school chum picked up at an Auction for a couple bucks. It had been years since I'd last put together a model and I think besides being kind he was also leading me down the 'rabbit hole' ! only date I could find on the box was 1997. The wing to fuselage was ok but the landing gear had me swearing, stomping my feet in frustration and vowing to go back to quiet walks alone in the woods. Since I'm not advanced enough to do much alterations decided to forget about having the gear operable and retracted the wheels and closed the doors. I'm hoping you keep at it you're an inspiration to this almost seventy year old.
