Fewer mouths for their Dear Leader to feed or pay. I wonder if the troops were there in lieu of paying for new Russian weaponry/technology?

That practice dates back to at least the American Revolution where German princes rented their troops to the British Crown. While the "hessians" were called mercenaries, they were not mercenaries per se but acting under orders of their prince (to help pay for the costs of the Seven Years War).

Could be. We keep seeing articles about Putin being hard up for troops.

Trump said he could end this in 24 hours...
The only way he could attempt this is to bring both together and ask Putin what Land he wants (to save face) and tell Zelensky that if he doesn't hand it over he will withdraw all American support (Which NATO has been preparing for...) - Give a little or lose the lot will be Trump's idea.
Zelensky won't go for it IMO...Which leaves us where??

Costa Rica is looking pretty damn good right now. Then again, Canada is only an hour and twenty minutes drive (after Customs check). Sunny beaches versus six months of Winter ?! Ah Hell, I was born here and I'll die here. Defensively of course.

Yeah i read an appraisal about how Trump coming in will effect other countries...Didn't sound good at all...Then they got to Australia....It said Australia has little to worry about as we are one of the few countries that both sides of politics in America like and respect as a loyal ally. Our forefathers fought and died for that respect.

    Our PM this morning:
Good to speak this morning with President Trump to personally congratulate him on his election victory. We talked about the importance of the Alliance, and the strength of the Australia-US relationship in security, AUKUS, trade and investment. I look forward to working together in the interests of both our countries.

Australia remembers Albanese (Al ban-easy) saying years back that Trump "scares the shit out of me"...

Kevin Rudd - An Ex-Prime Minister said this: Trump was thought of as “nuts”, in 2022 labelled him the “most destructive president in history” and in 2022 described him as a “traitor to the West” after Trump defended his praise for Russian ruler Vladimir Putin. - Rudd is now Australia's ambassador to the US..!

If it wasn't so isolated where I am and since I have a clear line of sight out to a couple hundred yards I'm good.
But ..... My passport is up to date.

We are expecting an up-tick of American immigrants soon...

"So, why are Americans moving to Australia? The reasons are diverse but primarily center around a high standard of living, excellent healthcare, and educational opportunities. Australians are known for their friendly disposition, which adds a welcoming atmosphere for newcomers."

I think we have a resident population of 110 thousand US Americans living in Australia...

" At the end of June 2022, over 1.1 million people who were born in the United Kingdom were living in Australia" - That doesn't count those of British decent, just those actually born in Britain now living here.

Most of those animals don't see us as food, so you just have to give them space and ALL IS COOL.
But there are some...make friends with them and ALL IS COOL.

Wasn't there mandatory vaccination in Down Under and covid camps for the non-compliant? They can't do that to Americans here b/c we have 2A.

Yep Mandatory vaccinations...At least for government workers. A couple in my office refused and they had to find another job. So you could still opt out...but most wanted the vax anyway.
Covid camps? No - We had some camps for the people who couldn't isolate (because 10 people lived in their home) - And most were for our Indigenous, people who couldn't successfully isolate and were likely to be heavily hit by Covid more than others because of their health. Our homeless were given hotel rooms to isolate in.
I think Americans had/have a weird view of Australia's (successful) approach to the Covid outbreak. 90% of us knew its what had to happen for ALL our safety, But like all countries, we were not experienced with this sort of thing and had to make things up (based on fact) as we went along.
Probably the biggest mistake was leaving arrangements up to individual states instead of a centralised approach.
Interestingly, a report just came out saying that Australians are unlikely to go into "ISO" (as we called it) - Willingly if this happens again. Of course if people start dropping like flies we wouldn't let the front door hit our backsides running into our homes!

Biden Admin Introduces Policy Allowing American Military Contractors To Operate In Ukraine

The Biden administration will now allow American military contractors to deploy to Ukraine, to aid in repairing U.S. military equipment used in the Ukraine war.

The new policy in place, which was reportedly approved earlier this month, will allow the Pentagon to post contracts for American companies to operate inside of Ukraine for the first time since the beginning of the war, attempting to expedite maintenance and repairs of critical weapons and defense systems.

Equipment such as F-16 fighter jets and Patriot air defense systems which required “specific technical expertise to maintain,” were previously transported to nearby countries like Poland and Romania for repairs, which was inefficient and costly.

U.S. troops were also previously available to assist the Ukrainians on maintenance via video chat, which also had clear limitations.

“In order to help Ukraine repair and maintain military equipment provided by the US and its allies, DoD (Department of Defense) is soliciting bids for a small number of contractors who will help Ukraine maintain the assistance we’ve already provided,” stated an unnamed defense official, according to CNN.

“These contractors will be located far from the front lines and they will not be fighting Russian forces. They will help Ukrainian Armed Forces rapidly repair and maintain US provided equipment as needed so it can be quickly returned to the front lines,” the official continued.

President Biden has previously enacted a moratorium for U.S. troops and American companies, requiring them to stay out of Ukraine due to the potential risks, as well as to control the optics of the situation, as to not make it seem like the United States was actively engaged in combat.

Additionally, the companies bidding for the government contracts would be required to provide their own risk mitigation plan in order to keep their American employees safe amidst an ongoing war.

“The department made this decision after careful risk assessment and in coordination with interagency stakeholders,” the unnamed defense official added. “Each US contractor, organization or company will be responsible for the safety and security of their employees and will be required to include risk mitigation plans as part of their bids.”

It is currently unclear if President-elect Donald Trump plans to continue Biden’s new policy, as Trump stated he plans on ending the war “within 24 hours” of occupying the Oval Office.

In Financial Survival Network's (Nov. 8?) Kerry Lutz's intervew of Martin Armstrong (Armstrong Economics with his Socrates program) it was mentioned that the neocons are trying to raise $100 billion to continue the war with Russia even after Trump's election. Armstrong predicted a malevolent orange entity victory over the empty pantsuit (meaning placeholder or nothing of substance inside).

One thing we learned from the Ukraine-Russo war is that drones will play an increasing role in modern combat. That also means a lot of signal jamming.

If Trump decides he needs make a transactional deal with Xi, Taiwan is gone to China and Australia is on it's own. Good luck mate.

The president does not run the country and is nothing more than a figurehead. Both Obama and Trump tried to remove U.S. troops from Afghanistan, when they were ignored and laughed at. Biden was later successful at doing so only because other wars and conflict were promised from which to generate lots of profits for Wall Street, bigger budgets for government agencies, and other benefits for those who bribe and blackmail members of Congress.

The president cannot do anything important without approval from the permanent bureaucracy and largest donors to election campaigns. The primary job at the White House is to feed the beast; and if not you go the way of JFK.
