Royal Canadian Air Force Briefing Before Kiska.

Flight Lieutenant Paul Alexander Goranson, oil on canvas, 1939-1945 On August 15, 1943, after three weeks of naval and air bombing, a combined U.S. and Canadian force landed on Kiska, one of the Aleutian Islands in Alaska. The Japanese had occupied it since June 1942, but had left since July 28. Beaverbrook Collection of War Art / Canadian War Museum / 19710261-3205.
