1.) What's the best result to model a grain field in a diorama (1/48)? Hemp row? Bristle? Yellow colored fur?

2.) How do I get those kewl icicles like the guy who built that beauty did?

icing sugar mixed with water and light grey and brown paint might work to model dirty slush, but you don't get the icings.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers,

The best for corn fields or crops are rough doormats cut into sections. I use them for fields in 20mm and 28mm, but may be a little too small in your scale. Check out wargames terrain for some ideas...

I used to make icicles by dripping poly cement from a tube... was very fiddly and wasteful but the results are quite good

    Hi,
I have found that the best way to make icicles is to put a small dab of evo-stik wood glue onto a piece of wood, leave it for 15 minutes and then using modelling glue touch the white glue letting it run down into an icicle shape. Run the model glue over the icicles to encourage them to lengthen, and allow them to dry. Cut individual icicles from the wood keeping the base intact. Attach to model with model glue and run some more glue from the top to secure it realistically. Paint with gloss varnish to add sparkle.
    Hope this helps
