Thank you for postings these for me Volkbert I'll be doing the shoulderboards next--as soon as I get my Grossdeutschland boards in from Europe. After that--i'll do all my eks, medal bars and other crosses and Regimental Badges. PS: Im surprised you could read my lousy handwriting--good job in deciphering my heiroglyphics.
Hi Carl - Hey, your EK I that you list as #9, is that solid brass plate underneath the paint? It appears as if it might be so. Very nice. Bill
Hi Bill and thank you. Yes, sir--that's my L/19 and it does have a brass core. I picked this up at the last gunshow here in Corpus back in January. I picked it up when I got the Uboat badge. I paid $300.00 for the pair. My uboat badge is an L/56. Were supposed to have another gunshow here this month and im hoping my dealer/friend from San Antonio will be here. After the last show--a thief in San Antonio took a complate ryker mount full of his ww2 German stuff and walked out the door. Not only was he peeved--but so was I. He had a mint Silver IAB for sale at $75.00 ana another mint Silver IAB--that was de-nazified by the vet--but otherwise was in mint condition. I was going to buy both and could have had them for about $100.00. Well, he figures that guy already passed all of his things to other dealers. "We" were hoping the law could help get his things back--as he knew who the thief was--and who that thief went to to try to unload these items. Amoung the stolen items were: General Assault Badge 25 Assaults, Panzer Assault badge fro 75 Assaults and, a Knights Cross of the War Merit Cross. I'll give you an update when I see him if he manages to make it here. If it weren't for SAm---there would never be any German stuff for sale here in Corpus. [ 03. Carl - Your handwriting was not that bad to read. I am curious for the next things you are going to sent me. I will be on holiday from may 8 till may 23. After that I am ready to post some more for you. In my holiday I am going to visit the shop of Carsten Baldes. I will try to make some pictures there that i can post here. Bill - Did you get my PM about posting pic?
I appreciate the nice compliments on my writing--I wish my school-teachers would have agreed many years ago--so I wouldn't have had to re-write so many of my homework assignments. Hey--I hope you have a nice time on holidays in Germany. Please give Carsten my best regards and I hope you do get a chance to visit Remy in Hagen. Its a toss up at the moment on what ill make scans of next--im waiting for an ek2 (1939) and a Regimental Cross and some shoulderboards to come in. If I get the boARDS--ILL SCAN THOSE WHILE i WAIT ON MY OTHER crosses to come in (sorry about the all caps--im too lazy to re-write this) Anyway, I should be able to let you know by next week which I can get done and send. Take care my friend and I do hope you have a great time in Germany. Oh and if you get the chance to go to Heidleberg--there is a very nice militaria shop there. I can't remember the name and don't know the address but, directly from the hauptbahnhof heading in the direction of the river--on the right side of the street somewhere, is a big militaria shop. I didnt get to see it as it was closed before I got there and it was Saturday afternoon--I had to leave for Frankfurt early Sunday Also, if you go to Heidelberg--I suggest eating at Zum Rothen Ochsen--it's a great place to eat at. And if you eat there--please say hallo for me to that place's manager--she was a very nice lady.
Great collection Carl! I especially like the Coastal Artillery Badge, as well as the U-Boat war Badge!!! GREAT CLEAR PICS....
Thank you Ryan for the nice compliments but one small correction. I didn't get a scan done of my Coastal Artillery badge as I think its a well-made fake. The jury is still out on it at the moment. The two artillery badges shown are my Luft Flak which is of 3 piece construction and a heavy piecs, and my Heer/Waffen SS Arty badge.
Panzerknacker - No 8 from the first scan is an army artillery badge. Officers, NCO's and enlisted men were eligible for the award. It was bestowed upon unit commanders once half the men under their command had received it. Unlike its Luftwaffe and Kreigsmarine counterparts, the Heeres-Flakabzeichen was awarded for attacks on air targets only. More info http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/war_badges/heer/flak.htm It is a quite rare badge and far more expensive than the Luftwaffe artillery badge (no 7 on the top scan).
