It's a VERY good one--and getting a harder to get award doc with it is a plus. If I had the $400.00 clams to shell out for it--I'd do so in a heartbeat. I hear ya--I hear ya--I just had to shell out $130... something clams today for two new tires. There goes my computer money
boy deja vue here on the forums, yep that is my problem too......have to replace the front two tires on my 1 ton to the tune of over 225.00 US uk that's all I can say. The Zerstörer badge and doc would of been very cool framed with a portrait of an offizier or in this case an enlisted man. Really enjoy the docs with the old Deutsche shrift being used. Pretty classy deal and maybe he will have it still around for another 2 months though I doubt this very much..... oh well at least it's ~E
Yup--too many things needed for my car I saw two 8 place ribbon bars that I would have used my credit card on--as they both belonged to a Kriegsmarine Admiral who was in charge of Norway. Bad thing is--is that I think they have sold to someone in Norway that I know--and it's not listed on the site as sold. If it turns out they aren't sold--for sure i'll buy one and in hopes of getting the other as I don't want to be responsible for splitting items that belong together.
Personally, I have to disagree with Carl concerning Jamie Cross. I will give you Carl, the fact, that I have had a couple of situations in which Jamie and I had to get a couple of things wired out, but, when shown in evidence that he was in error, Jamie not only apologized to me, he gave me an additional 15% off my next purchase, PLUS, he sent me a FREE gift. Not too many on line dealers do that. I think this shows that the man wants to, can be, and is fair. Further more, I think that what this thread shows is that each and every collector has their personal favorites in which to deal with, and sometimes we agree, and sometimes we don't. But, in the end, when you, or some other interested party purchases an item from a private party how do they know where in fact the item originated, than to take the word of the current owner of the piece. For all they know, it could have come from a veteran source, or through that same said dealer that one would not have purchased a dime's worth of anything from directly. Don't buy from Jamie, Carl. ( Anyone else for that matter too ). It only furthers my own competition if you do! Bill [ 17. July 2003, 11:30 PM: Message edited by: Bill Smith ]
Not a problem Bill--Anton Huesken, Peter Lukacs, Carsten Baldes, Detlev Neimann, Janet Hamilton and Diane Schrieber have 99% of my business. Rest assurred--Bill Shea has ZERO% of my business as well as a few others.
Here's a couple- The Treasure Bunker My favourite shop in Glasgow. Sentimental Journey Never visited, but have bought a few good quality items from them.
I'm not going to recommend any particular militaria dealer(s) because I feel that if you're going to collect militaria you should learn all there is to know about it and not trust any dealer. Dealers are in this for the money -- it's a job and a source of income so they are working for themselves. Most are pretty decent about, all make mistakes, and some are just out to steal you blind. So I'll limit my recommendations to other interesting websites.
