Its normal music just by NZers. You may have heard of Tim (Spilt Enz) and Neil (Crowded House) Finn. Maybe even Dave Dobbyn or Bic Runga.
Indeed, they even have a very, very good opera singer, the soprano Kiri Te Kanawa. She's very good! And I love her opera concerts in which she uses New Zealander natives as a choir! Opera and primitive music! WOW!
Hehe Friedrich, Yes she does come from NZ. The Maoris ('natives') arn't primitive but hey, it sounds good to me [ 03. November 2002, 10:50 PM: Message edited by: Kiwi Ace ]
Nobody listening to music anymore? Lately I´ve been playing the N.E.R.D record as well as Holly Valance´s..(VERY nice VOICE )... I did not luckily have to pay the full price for Holly´s record. It´s not a legendary recording but fun for a while...
Has anyone mentioned the one and only STEPPENWOLF!!!! Just discovered it this month, some fantastic songs, and Tenacious D as well. Led Zeppelin, the Doors, the Smiths, Jimi Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, the Cure, Red Hot Chili Peppers (looking at that list I can begin to see why my Dad says I was born in the wrong generation).
Hey KP, I don't think you bought that to hear her voice, I think you use it to ward off frost bite For WWII era music I always liked Glen Miller and Edith Piaf. Other wise I like new wave and rock and roll. The Rolling Stones sound as good now as they did in 1964.
Shouldn’t come to too much harm with that cross-section Stef. Where’s Deep Purple? Course, you don’t appear to have come across Pink Fairies yet? No.9 ps. strictly speaking one refers to Led, then everyone else separately
I listen to many types: Hard Rock: Stone Cold Finger Eleven Godsmack Disturbed System Of A Down Seether Deftones Tool Good Charlote General Rock: U2 (aparently they're a rock band) Creed Punk: Skinny Puppy NoFX Alkaline Trio Classical: Vivaldi Handel Bach Motzart Jazz: ANYTHING Just to name a few IL DUCE
I like Nu Metal and Rock Bands like Foo Fighters, Adema and Camp Kill Yourself. And Creed of course. Jet (ps, Kai I liked the picture )
Just got 'THE CLASH:THE SINGLES' which was released after Joe Strummer's passing. Great CD, well worth getting, 18 of their best...
Some of the old rock groups sure have gotton greedy over the years. The remaining members of the Doors are to give a concert in Austin Texas on the 27th of May. I wanted to go but the tickets are $185 EACH !!!!!! And they don't even have Jim Morrison.
Dannii ( Kylie´s sister ) Monigue Good ole´ Nine Inch Nails "head like a hole" Ha hahhaaa.... Dire straits Ultravox...."Vienna" And my "weird" all-time-weakness....Adam and the ants! "A new royal family, a wild nobility, we are the family!" David Sylvian! ---------- I have some 2,000 lp´s (33 rpm and 12 inch singles ) and some 1,000 CD´s. Plus some couple of hundred cassettes....
I wonder if their was any concrete significance behind the deaths of Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morisson, and Janis Joplin??? All three- eleven letters. All three- 27 years old at death. All three- died within 9? months of one another. All three- drugs/alchohol, well I guess this isn't very coincedental! Looks like a government conspiracy to me! Anyone up for some Wagner????????????
No. 9, well actually I like Deep Purple the song but I have not got into the band yet. Pink Faries? Ho, add Cream to the list and Pink Floyd. I missed off clasical music because I really do not know much about it. What I will say is that there are a few pieces I know and love and that there are some parts of you that classical music can reach whilst other genres cant (though the same could be said for Jazz etc). I do think however that Elgars cello concerto is one of the most moving pieces of music ever written (though I am sure I am wrong about the name).
