It's very strange that Bush wants an aggreement with North-Korea although the world knows that they have Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD). And everyone, except Bush, knows that Iraq don't have WMD. But still he wants to attack them. And don't tell me the story about a dictator. There are a lot of dictators who are not going to be attacked. E.g.: North-Korea, Pakistan, ...
I find it strange as well. It just goes to show the duplicity of American foreign policy. I wonder how many resolutions on North Korea will be sent through Congress. And by Bush treating Norht Korea much better than Iraq, it is understandable for Islamic countries to feel under attack by the Americans. I wish Bush would approach the Iraq situation in the same way he is the Korean; diplomatically and without overdoing the sabre-rattling.
I'm just puzzled by everybody's attitude. I think one of the reasons may be that NK has sort of just "confessed" it with the intention of doing something about it on its own. SK has reportedly begun talks with NK to see what they can do about the NK nuclear arsenal. Though perhaps SK is hoping for reunification sometime in the next 10 years and wants to inherit the nukes as well. I think nobody really knows anything about this, except the North Koreans. But you have to love them. They've gone and fooled everybody.
Agreed, Albert and dasreich. This fixation on Iraq on the part of Bush is looking more and more foolish by the day. After all, he did label NK one of the countries along with Iraq in the "axis of evil". And now they admit they are working on nukes, but Bush hardly even says anything!!! This also reminds me of the situation with Bin Laden. Since Iraq has become Bush's obsession, he has also conveniently forgotten about Bin Laden.
Yeah, this stuff is really getting emberassing. I don't know what to think anymore, except thinking about moving to canada. I'm sure we knew about NK's nukes a while ago. They don't strike me as a country with impenetrable security.... I'm sure this intelligence was the reason they were included in that axis of evil, kind of like he was trying to justify some of his actions before he actually did them. I wonder when we'll start bombing NK? Maybe it's just not as personal a showdown with NK and our president as it is with "Bush Strikes Back". Like I said, I just don't know what to think.
Is North Korea a major oil ressource? C'mon folks: Do you really think that the U.S. admin is willing to sacrify a couple of thousand bodybags and the international alliance against terrorism to get rid of one out of three lunatic mo-fu's who _might_ have weapons for mass destruction? It's about oil, just like back in 1991. The one who has Bagdad, the one has the Middle East. It would be a stupid thing to _not_ get as much power and influence as one can as long as being the only world superpower. Sooner or later Europe/Russia and China will become "players" again and it will be getting more difficult for the U.S. to get/sustain her world hegemonism. Better now than later. Cheers,
AndyW has a point. North Korea doesnt have oil, and Iraq does. Plus the leader of N. Korea didnt try to kill daddy dearest. Add to that, its easier to get support to attack a country that more than 50% of Americans know about.
Indeed, it's all about oil. Maybe with Al Gore the US wouldn't have such a duplicity of foreign policy. Maybe Bush has to think twice about his foreign policy. Condemning Arafat, Sadam, but doing everythink to make an aggreement with Norh-Korea.
I don't know, gents- Bush has never seemed to be concerned with oil in the past... (That was sarcasm...) However Bush justifies his Iraq thing in his own little mind, one thing is clear- the rest of the world is not buying it. But hey, look at it this way- at least there are no domestic issues Bush should be concerned about... like the economy. (Yup... more sarcasm)
