Now that I have Snoopy as my avatar--I thought this would be appropriate to say:

    I would'nt give a bean
to be a fancy pants marine,
I'd rather be a dogface soldier like I am.

    I would'nt trade my old OD's
    for all the Navys Dungarees,
for I am the walking pride of Uncle Sam.

On all the posters that I read
it says the army builds men,
    to build me over again!

    I'm just a dogface soldier
with a rifle on my shoulder,
and I eat raw meat for breakfast everyday.

    So feed me ammunition,
keep me in the 3rd Division,
    your dogface soldier boys okay.

    Hi Bish--Friedrich.

The song was the theme song to a classic war movie which starred a REAL Medal of Honor Recipient as himself--Audie Leon Murphy in: "To Hell and Back."

The words were sang in a part of the movie where the G.I.s get some leave and go into a bar. This is where the G.I.'s and I think some Scottish Soldiers team up and get into a barfight with the US Aircorps men.

Ah--tis a classic movie. Oh and the song is called: "Dogface Soldier" [IMG]

Your right Friedrich--i'll never change--now pass me my Coca Cola. Ooops, I mean pass me my Root Beer--Snoopy drinks nothing else. :D

Yes, i know the movie, and the man. But i've only ever caught the end of it.

GRUNTs, no matter where they are from, they are always causing trouble :D

Yeah but--grunts are the best too :D

There are a few other war movies with classic barfight in them.

The Devils Brigade--movie about a Canadian unit and Americans forming that special unit. First the Amis start a fight with their "Canuck" allies. Later they get some R&R and go into a bar filled with tough loggers--and the Loggers start a fight with the "Canuck" half of the men in their because they are wearing kilts.

Ah--love the movie. Cliff Robertson as the Canadian unit leader.

Darby's Rangers, barfight scene between troops.

One that comes to mind in particular is a John Wayne movie that has a famous fight scene between American Soldiers and American Sailors, but I forget the name of the movie--it was about a famous US NAvy Aviator.

Oh and another nice barfight scene between members of the US Armed forces--No Time For Sergeants--with Andy Griffith. The US Airforce starts a fight with Army Infantry.

Bish--the movie is well worth renting if you can rent it. When I can afford it--i'll get it on DVD.

Those logges are a tough bunch.Whenever we are there, we avoid their bars like the plauge.Them and the oil workers.

I agree with you--I would stay away from the Loggers too :D
