For those in the Midwestern United States and also Canada near Detroit, Michigan. Looks like I'll get to see a Lancaster after all Martin. http://www.yankeeairmuseum.org/airdisplay/air_display.htm Greg
Friedrich, it seems to me that you need to go back to Deutschland and visit several of the famous museums there.....München for one with the Me 262 !, etc...... E
Go and see it, Greg ! I'd love to see CWH's 'Lanc' too... That's a truly great lineup of warbirds ( I see they've even got the Casa...er, Heinkel... )
Greg : Are you going to take a video cam or 35mm with you ? would like to see the pics posted on the forums if possible......yes ? E
I'm honestly thinking of going there. Its only about a five hour drive and if some members on the boards want to go as well we can all meet there. I will be sure to take at least two or three cameras with me as it seems there are going to be alot of pictures to be taken Greg
Indeed, Erich. I SHOULD... I will maybe go there for summer holidays... Let's see how tight is my schedule.
I'm seriously considering going to this. Anyone else have the avation itch in them right now? Chicago isn't too far from Detroit, and it would be worth the trip. Greg, are you going?
I'd love to go, except for the fact that it's across the country....maybe I'll have to plan a little road trip.... IL DUCE
I have that aircraft itch in me especially after a loooooonggg winter. I am seriousy considering as well Otto. Still some time so haven't definitely decided but I think it won't be a hard decision to make. Greg
I've decided to go! If anyone else goes I'll meet you there. I'l post more information about the event as I recieve it.
Maybe we'll sneak that Lancaster out and fly it out to your place Martin. Do you have a wide enough road to land it? Greg
A little bump for this airshow, coming up in about a week. Unfortunately my plans have changed of late and I won't be able to attend anymore. Are any Forums members going to attend?
Still a little too far for me to go, Greg, but I just checked out the list of aircraft again - mouthwatering ! Don't miss it....
Greg : If you have a good chance to attend do not forget to bring some notable books for the vets to sign. Don't wory they will be hanging around the bombers and fighters there, telling the grandkids and whomever close enough to listen about their WW 2 tales. Ask some intellignet questions about the bomber flight characteristics or maybe what was worse...flak or fighters and you should get the ball rolling in your court. And for sure bring a camera so we can view your great time through these forums......doesn;t hurt to get a private addy or two from these guys if they wish to be written. ~E the old wolf
Erich, I'm going to take John McManus's "Deadly Sky" that covers all American airman in WWII. I am going to the symposium with my dad to see Chuck Yeager, Gunther Rall, and Bud Anderson so I will be sure to have them sign the book as well. (Okay so Gunther wasn't an American Airmen in WWII I'll still have him sign the book) I know when I was talking to a B-17 pilot a couple weeks ago I did ask him whether he saw any jets and he did but said they didn't have much of an effect on them. I think he was talking about the Komet because he would talk how they'd fire their engines and climb to a high altitude and then dive down looking for a loose formation of bombers to hit or stragglers.
