Well since there are so many 'best of' threads, here is a 'worst of'. Mainly I am thinking of serious films that were trying really hard to be something and miss by miles. My nomination at the moment is 'The Matrix: Reloaded'. Saw it yesterday, almost fell asleep twice. I am a fan of the first one but the sequal is TERRIBLE!
I'd honestly say that anything involving Keaneu Reeves has to be in the running for worst movie ever. Except Bill and Ted, in which he didn't actually have to act. I also hate boogie nights. I hate most popular movies, but especially when they gain such popularity. Anything involving disco must burn. U-571, SW Episode I, and most any love movie or chick flick. I will say, however, that I have liked every movie that I have ever seen John Cusack in.
A short list: Pearl Harbour [and most of Jerry Bruckheimer's work] The Matrix Reloaded X-Men 2 Star Wars I & II Jurassic Park II and III Batman IV Enemy at the Gates [pretty much anything with Chuck Norris] [ANYTHING with Steven Segal] [any non-Lethal Weapon Mel Gibson film]
"Moulin Rouge" GUAC! "Jaws III" "Crouching Tiger, hidden Dragon" (too overrated) "Piragna II" "falcon" (or something like that) with Bruce Willis... And I am sure there are many more but they are too BAD to remember!
Saving Private Ryan Im sorry, everytime i watch it i hate it more. I hate the way Speilberg portrays the Germans (IE everyone a skinhead nazi killer) CvM
I absolutely hated "minority report" and did not like Clint Eastwoods: "Blood Work." I don't like anything with vin diesel in it except SPR.
Didn' you like the road warrior? I always loved that. I thought Gallipoli was alright, too. Guess I'd say any Mel Gibson movie that was made after he lost his accent. Although, I though signs was okay. Not as cool as I suspected, but not bad.
My opinion on recent war movies for the worst- "We Were Soldiers" w/Mel Gibson, et al. Absolutly horrible! I fell asleep twice and finally got up and walked out in the last 15 minutes or so.
Greenjacket- "The Sum of All Fears" stars one of the most disliked super-liberals in this country-ben affleck.
Panzernacker- Was the "Heart of Darkness" you speak of, the Orson Wells' version of old? I've naver seen it but have heard that it was the book/movie that F.F. Copoula? based the famed war epic "Apocalypse Now" on.
'The English Patient' has got to be way up there ( or should it be down there ? ) - but it's good for a few laughs.....
Good call - I think he went crazy a while back. I think the only really good movie he did at all was the untouchables. Brings to mind a kind of funny, very policically incorrect moment. I saw dances with wolves with my dad, a 1st Cav. vet. At some point during the movie, I can't remember why, he looked at me and said "Hell, I'm on the cavalry's side!" A bit embarassing, but at least funny to look back on.
