Yeah it is a good course up here. the head of department is very good and the Phd students are very knowledgable and help to run the modules.

What job opportunities are there with a degree in war studies? Besides lecturing at Sandhurst and becoming a CNN analyst and running for US president...??

And how's King's College War Studies Dept. rated?

Thats what I was thinking and why I want to do history with philosophy first, it seems like a wider base to start from and gives you more options when you are done. Kings is a fairly good place to go for most subjectis IIRC so no doubt their WS department is good.

LALALALALALALALALALA... Hum dee dum, da da da...

(Sorry, Martin... made some "noise" for ya!)
(Ah, so nice to be back!!!  )

    The opportunity to flip burgers.

OK, not that drastic... but I'd say general "History" would be better. I actually was VERY LUCKY to get a job in the History "area" (editing Social Studies textbooks). But I needed a good connection and some good timing to get that.

But hey, ya gotta do what calls ya!! :D

Well, you remember what Bruce Lee said when asked what he was going to do with a philosophy degree?

'Sit at home and think deep thoughts about being unemployed'

Heh... didn't know Bruce Lee had a philosophy degree. Easily the most ass-kicking philosopher!!

I am a big proponent of the whole "do what you enjoy" idea. Getting a degree in computer science or business is probably a better bet for making more money... but personally, I'd rather enjoy what I do (and make a bit less money) than make gobs of money while hating my job.

I'm one of the silent majority. I'm not as knowledgeable as everyone else here but I do come here every day or couple days to keep up.

How dumb am I? I just learned that English aircraft operating in Burma had their national insignia changed to the two shade blue roundel to avoid identification problems with Japenese planes.....

See you just taught me something new as well. I know that US aircraft replaced the red dot in the middle of the star for the same reason but never the English.

</font>[/QUOTE]Not English folks, but British
The RAF is the airforce of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and N. Ireland, not England.
England is just one of the 4 nations that make up the United Kingdom.

I was thinking just that, it is getting really annoying hearing various commentators (usually from the US) talking about English forces when they mean British. I am English but I do not think it is fair to ignore the rest of the population of the UK (even if we are the pick of the bunch ;) )

I see you're point. That's the excact reason,i won't tell my parents that i am into History. I will get a black stare or a funny look.

I may know the answer to this question,800 members and not all of them post.
I too some times sign up with a forum, and find out that it's not the right forum that would suit me.So i never post, maybe that's why?
