Frustrating getting information out of govt. It is amazing what they won't bother to tell you unless you ask... Been trying to get information on getting service records of two Canadians who died in April. 1945. The Canadian govt website in this matter makes it difficult. I have been emailing back and forth to see about what it would cost to get info, (my budget being zero, and have to approve all costs before I proceed) and after about six emails, I get this: "There is no fee for a KIA gene package, just send a fax or an email giving us the service number and names etc. We will then do service record portion only and forward to your home address." Canadian Gvt in action...
Deal;ing with government agencies can be frustrating....But at least they sent you the stuff, by only sending them a fax...AND for free! In a lot of countries it won't be so easy nor cheap!!!!
A 'gene' package, as I was told, "is a package of basic information, synopsius of military career and if possible details of his death..." . Have been trying for the past week to get through to the web pages I need to, but it seems the entire genology and collections canada site is "not found".
