I am afraid "splash the cash" is today´s big clubs´motto, If not you lose the players. Well, not sure yet about Hleb but seems pretty certain:

Alexander Hleb will snub the offer of a lucrative new deal and will leave Arsenal this summer, according to the midfielder's agent.

...now Hleb's agent Nikolai Shpilevski claims his client will also be going at the end of the season.

He told Belarussian paper Pressball: "Alexander is preparing to make the most important moves of his life.

"He is leaving Arsenal even though they want to offer him a new long-term contract and better conditions. Only time will tell if leaving is the right decision, but there's no way back now. Everything will be cleared up in the next two weeks."

They'll either flourish at their new clubs, or not so much. I imagine it clears the way for Walcott to get a starting job at Arsenal. RVP will be back from injury next year - i think Arsenal will be just as strong. Might look for Gattuso to move to Arsenal- he wants to play in England and brings veterancy to the squad. (Fabregas is only 21!!!)

Sorry Mussolini, I heard Bayern Munich say of Gattuso he´d be perfect for them. However so far i have not heard the man say anything except he´d like to play in the Premier league ( one day).

Already a deal: Portugal right-back Jose Bosingwa will join Chelsea in the next 48 hours after Porto accepted a £16.2million offer from Avram Grant's side.

Lyon starlet Hatem Ben Arfa has confirmed that he has held transfer talks with Arsenal over a possible summer switch to the Emirates Stadium.

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has suggested that Martin O'Neill should come to terms with the prospect of losing captain Gareth Barry.

    ----

Also Ferguson of ManU says he wants a new attacker this summer. Something from Ajax perhaps? Or Lyon?

Also Arsenal is very interested according to rumours of Stuttgart´s Gomez...(great palyer, btw )

Hleb could move in 10 days - Agent

Shpilevski told Russian website Sports: "Alexander understands perfectly well that he plays for a great team, but the moment has come where he needs to make a choice.

"Hleb has been playing in London for three years now and isn't sure whether in the future he can show the level of talent that he is showing currently.

"I can only confirm that some of the world's biggest clubs are interested in him.

"In any case I can say simply that Alexander will not buy out the remaining part of his five-year contract for a fixed sum of his sale.

"Hleb is a gentleman and will not stoop to that level. Everything will be done properly.

"I am sure that the situation surrounding this issue will finally be resolved in the next 10 days."

Shpilevski added: "There are no problems with regard to his playing opportunities.

"Alexander is just tired of the noisy and chaotic life in the British capital and feels like living in calmer surroundings."

In a separate interview with Belarus newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda, Shpilevski stressed: "If any clubs want to add Hleb to their ranks then they should hold talks with Arsenal.

"Nobody is hiding the fact that a player of Hleb's class is of interest to all teams, including Barcelona and Real (Madrid).

"But the subject of a transfer to Inter has been going round and round for over for a year now. It's a normal occurrence."

While Hleb refused to be drawn on his own future, the Belarus winger revealed one potential reason why he may be thinking about a move.

"I am not a big city man, I need my retreat - that is why I am often in Germany. Stuttgart is my second home, my friends are there and it is where I feel most comfortable," Hleb told German website Transfermarkt.

Hleb, though, noted: "There is a lot of speculation about me, and I will not be making statements on this and stirring it up further."

The former Stuttgart midfielder added he "owed a lot" to the faith of Wenger.

Hleb said: "It was not bad for me personally over the last season and I have got quite a lot of praise - but I am very tough on myself, there is always something to improve.

"If you think you have satisfied everything, that is your first mistake.

"But I do not make public my errors - my strengths and weaknesses are for others to judge."

    -----------

If you don´t like big cities why could you move to Barcelona or Milan?

Anyway, how about an exchange to Gomez then if Stuttgart´s ok?

Congrats ManU for winning the Champion´s league final!

    So close for Chelsea but....

Anyway, thanx for a great match. It certainly went from one extreme to another, and both sides tried to win most of the game time.

Sir Alex Ferguson is disappointed that Champions League winners Manchester United were unable to embark on a parade around the city.

A planned open-top bus tour was scrapped in the wake of violence that erupted around Rangers' ill-fated UEFA Cup Final with Zenit St Petersburg a week earlier.

Council officials were also mindful of safety problems that arose in 1999, when Ferguson's Treble-winning squad paraded their trophies in front of thousands of fans.

Neither Manchester nor Trafford Councils, Greater Manchester Police nor United have taken responsibility for the decision, which has been condemned by most fans, who claim a celebration that will be held in the summer is going to be too late.

Good call!! Typical of the modern society. The more I think of it the more I agree with Roy Keane on the prawn sandwich brigade development. In addition we have the clip board boys who try to make everything bulbble wrapped... Football is getting more and more out of sync with the people. It is all about money now. The thought of banning a parade would have been out of the question a decade ago.

What would have impressed the hell out of me was if the Red Devils just had their parade anyways. The do-gooders with their clip boards need a glasgow kiss... badly.

WHEN NUFC win something (anything) i'll rush over and join in on the jubilation. King Kev and the Geordie nation will not care about any 'reccomendations'.

I think Grant did pretty well with Chelsea, and I think most of the players started to like him as well as the manager. Shows how cruel the businez has become.

"Former Chelsea manager Tommy Docherty has branded the sacking of Avram Grant as "disgraceful" - but thinks Guus Hiddink will replace him."

    --------

Interesting to see when Fergie says it´s over......

"Sir Alex Ferguson says he will "find it hard" to hand over the managerial reins at Manchester United - but thinks he will in three years' time."

I feel no need to root for any team. I simply don't understand the need to support or attach to nations of which I am not a citizen. However, I am always susceptible to wanting a underdeveloping country do well in the World Cup

I think Holland might do very well and I fancy Austria to get throught the first round.

One must never rule out the German machine. However, I do like the Polish folk because they have to endure a lot of crap from us. So I will show solidarity with Polonia.

New Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari will be the highest-paid manager in the Premier League -and the second-highest in Europe.

'Big Phil' on a big wedge at Bridge | Latest News | Football News from TEAMtalk

The Portugal coach will leapfrog Arsene Wenger and Kevin Keegan, the league's two top earners, by more than £1million.

His deal, worth between £5.5million and £6million per year, will also be the second-highest paid position in Europe, eclipsed only by former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho's £7million-a-year deal at Inter Milan.

No one can beat the "special one". In all seriousness, the guy IS something special. Here in Portugal, rpior to the Euro (20 days or so) a tv station had nearly hourly developments on the Portuguese selection (I don't like football too much and I was already tired of the Euro before it began. That's how much we talk about football). It got to the ridiculous point of interrupting a movie just to say "Cristiano Ronaldo is warming up as we speak..." (really).
However, when Mourinho signed for Inter, they interrupted an Euro cup Portuguese selection news to go live to Italy.

    Now that's what I call special :D

    Cheers...
