I would guess that it was Operation Postern.

    Ok, here's a new one:

Field Marshal Paulus, the message was "The Sixth Army, true to their oath and conscious of the lofty importance of their mission, have held their position to the last man and the last round for Führer and Fatherland unto the end."

It was given by the last men of general Strecker's XI 'Corps' who were still trapped in the Tractor Factory on February 2nd-3rd 1943:

"Is anyone there? There are just a few of us in here. We haven't eaten for days and I've shot my last pistol-cartridge. In any second, the Bolshevists will arrive by the hundreds and slaughter us all. Just tell my father that I carried out my duty and that I served faithfully our Führer and Germany. Long live Germany! Heil Hitler!"

The message was retransmited by all radio stations in the subsequent days (and even if it sounds rare, it wasn't just propaganda!)

Last message came from a meteorological station belonging to Army Group Don at Taganrog.

Message is as follows "Cloud base at fifteen thousand feet, visibility seven miles, clear sky, occasional scattered nimbus clouds, temperature minus thirty-one degrees centigrade, over Stalingrad fog and red haze. Meteorlogical station now closing down. Greetings to the homeland."

Sorry Friedrich but its YOU that got the right answer.

The reason i asked this question is because i have just created a scenario for Talonsoft's East Front depicting the Last day of Stalingrad.

    Over to you Fried.

Thank you very much, PzJgr! Glad to have you back!

    Now, here's the question:

Name all the marshals of the Soviet Union in WWII (which isn't the same than marshal).

Hint: of course, genious Zhúkov was one.

Muchos Gracias, Friedrich! ( or how is it written...?)

Anyway, I´ll ask a question on Finnish warfare ..again..!!!!!

In 1944 president Ryti of Finland made a pact with Germany that Finland would stay in the war and thus Germany sent supplies and planes to protect Finland in response. However, Finland made a separate peace in autumn 1944, and yet this was not violating the ..well,sort of...the deal made between Finland and Germany. There was a trick behind. What was it?

    ( Politics, schmolitics...)
