Gents : A new site and looks pretty good too.......take your time as it is in Italien ! maybe some of our Italien friends on this fine board can get the web-masters to nicely put the pages into English.......please !! E www.dalvolturnoacassino.it
Hi Andreas ! Question, can you send them an e-mail and see if they will kindly do their pages in English, or maybe they are going to soon ? Also am I assuming the articles are from newspaper resources...... ? There appears to be a couple of nice ones on Foltin and the Sherman's death ride up Cavendesh road. Danke E
While my Italian is limited, this is a great site. Thanks for letting us know about it. Can anyone recommend some other web sites for the Italian campaign?
Here are several more links to Cassino story only. As to other Italien campaign battles, Yes I would love to have the links....... ! www.mindspring.com/~gif212/Links.htm www.accessweb.com/users/rbereznicki/over.html-ssi www.eagle19.freeserve.co.uk/cassino.htm I think the last one also incleds some materials on the Sicilian campaign. I am also trying to pry info from a former Fallschirm tropper who fought through Sicily and at the bay of Messina before his withdrawl over the ocean to southern France. E
No-one ever seems to mention the 'Gothic Line'. There is a book ( 'The Gothic Line' by Douglas Orgill ) and an interesting 'amateur' website by Mario Paesani at : - www.members.tripod.com/aries46/gemmoliv.htm Worth a look. [ 08 July 2002, 11:55 AM: Message edited by: Martin Bull ]
You have not mentioned our site below. It not only includes all the Italian campaigns but those in North Africa and Sicily as well. There are original photographs, a virtual museum, maps and a forum as well. Best Mike
it might be the best bet that you look at how old the posts are before you place a posting.....please note your reply was to a post from 2002 as I never heard of your site at that time, also the site I placed on this very thread were dealing with Monte Cassino only not the rest of the MTO regardo's to you in England from the Sphere
Other Monte Cassino web-sites: The Polish Soldier & Monte Cassino Battle of Monte Cassino Of the old (2002) websites mentioned above, Gemmano 1944. Part 1 : the Gothic Line and the Operation Olive still works. - but most of the others listed are down now. sigh (Edit note Thanks re following post Erich.)
Greg Way on the eagle 19 site had talked with me over a year ago about taking his excellent Fallshirmjäger down for a time to do a total revamp. I have copied the pages from the "German point of view", a very nice brief, some 3-4 page synopsis with compact and yet detailed info. A person could always seek out member sommercourts today battle series web-site with Monte Cassino battlefield well included with some wonderful photos....
While we are updating Italy related sites, since I last posted on this thread I have my own Italy section now: Italian Battlefields of WW2 - Italy Battlefield Guide
