I figured I'd start a thread for feedback on the new Avatar Depot. Please give me any reactions, questions or requests about the new Avatars here...

Otto, I was bit surprised there were no Avatar one’s of Winston Churchill. So I settled on Uncle Joe.

This shows you are a man of good taste.

Lots of new avatars, I could identify a few of them. Quite a few of them came from the flicks, but some significant ones were missing that could provide good portraits, like Cross of Iron, The Longest Day, Where Eagles Dare, etc. No John Wayne? No Anthony Quayle, Richard Burton?

Great job on the new depot Otto!

There really are a lot that I wanted to select, but of course I have to stick with Grandpa!

Oh, I was sorry to see Donald Duck go, I used him before you fixed-up my current one!

Thanks for the feedback gentlemen. In case you are wondering, there are about 540 Avatars now, replacing the approximately 335 we had before, it may seem like some disappeared, but over the long term this new format will replace all the old Avatars and see many, many added on top of that.

Don't worry Richard42, Sir Winston was just added, eight versions to be exact, and many more historical figures are on the way.

There are tons of good films to choose from Za Rodinu, I managed to add a few good ones, especially SPR. Over time I'll add many other films, including the ones you mentioned.

Thanks Kai-Petri, more Avatars are coming but as Kenrali you have the luxury of custom Avatars, so you don't need to wait for the ones you want.

Thanks for the support David Barton (DB) Mathis, it was actually emails exchanged with you a couple of years ago that inspired me to change the Avatar format. I really like adding historical figures related to Forum members, it's sort of a small tribute for their service. Oh, and don't worry, Donald is on the way back too, along with manu many others...

Otto, that's an excellent work you're doing! If you are going to expand on the avatar list I would suggest you include a few Marshals of the SU portraits, and get rid of that lousy Khruschev (Bob Hoskins) from Enemy at Gates ;)

Sure thing Za Rodinu, give me some names, or even better give me some links to photos too. You can even take a look at the Avatar FAQ for some guidance in that area.

A very astute choice Erich, your noble taste is evident! :D

My goal is to have about 1,000 Avatars in the Depot by this date next year, we'll see how that goes...

With all this talk of these Avatars, I better get busy so I can reach 100 posts and get access to the Avatar Depot!

Otto, I have some decent photo editing tools, would you like any help with this?

Nice job with the new selection Otto. Many great new additions (GREAT Saving Private Ryan collection). My only complaint is no Rommel! As much as I like my new avatar, I was quite fond of my previous Rommel portrait.

Thanks Miller, it took a lot of work but was quite fun to do as well. SPR had a great many good characters, I think there were over 90 Avatars from that on film alone. And not to worry, Rommel is one of the top priorities on my list, he'll be there sooner rather than later.

My new avatar did not show up on all of my posts. In the free fire zone, you could not make that up, the avatar did not work but some I wrote years ago have the new avatar. I hit the refresh button but it did not help. :(

Thanks Mahross, more Brits coming, any suggestions?

Just give it some time TA152, it will be about 24 hours before all the Forums are updated with the new files. If you look at the threads that don't have the Avatar, you will see that they have you down for 1,443 posts, whereas the threads that do have the Avatar have down for 1,444. Some Forum areas just take a little bit to catch up is all. I like your choice of Grampa Simpson by the way, who knew there was so much WWII in The Simpsons?

Hi Otto, I will post in the next few days in photobucket a few pics of Soviet marshals and others and give you the address, and you will be free to choose what you like or reject at will!

I would like to take the opportunity to criticise the awful taste some of our colleagues are showing! Mahross, what the blizzing blue blazes is that? :D
