Is everyone yet tired of hearing about Anna Smith? I sure as hell am.

I noticed that every national news agency is so fixated about Anna.N.Smith and her death. I am sorry she has died but, that is as far as my concern - concerning her and her family goes. The damnable news media really needs to let her finally rest in peace.

They are saying she died of a drug overdose--I said (no-DUH) I figured that was the case the day they announced she was dead. Overdose of sleeping pills--B.S. she had nine drugs in her system including a lot of Methadone (SP?) One can only take that med--if one were not a raging cocaine addict supposedly trying to clean up their act. I know how powerful of drug that is--as I have sat on more than one case in a courtroom, as a jury member, listening to someone try to get tons of money from a lawsuit; though they (the plaintiffs) were the guilty party.

At any rate, my point in this being, that, a drug addict killed herself taking too many drugs. I cannot see why the news media all seems to think that the masses of people out there; really care to hear about said drug addict?

Sorry if I sound so blunt, im in "one of those moods" and it's been "one of those days."

I couldn't have said it any better. Anna Nicole Smith dies and they talk about her on the news for months. Now if someone like you or me kicked the bucket tomorrow we'd be lucky to get a few seconds on a local station let alone international 24 hour news coverage. What makes her more important than me or you? When a US Serviceman is KIA in Iraq they are treated as a statistic, but when one of these so called "celebrities" dies they go on and on about them. I can't stand the media.

I have to confess that before the reports of her death appeared, I'd never heard of her.....

Very well said and I completely agree with you. I get so sick and tired of trash news agencies such as: C.N.N (aka) communist news network), of trashing not only our soldiers but those of our allies as well. Fox does a fair job in giving us some positive news about our guys over there but, something still lacks.

I cannot stand it when these so called: "celebrities" gets this preferential treatment. I know that it is a matter of selling the news and all but, simply, our people do not need to be neglected by the news orgs. Two news dorks I cannot stand at all are: cnn's wolf blitzer and that dork who was on the cbs evening news: dan (who coined the term: "baby killer" - referring to American Soldiers in Vietnam) rather. These are two who are doing their best to undermine Pres Bush as well as the war effort.

Long ago, I stopped fully supporting Bush on most everything--now I only support him on the war effort. At any rate, I have done as much as I could in supporting our soldiers over there. I have sent minor things like packages of chewing gum, packets of cool-aid, candycanes (from Cracker Barrel) to 10 DvD movies that I purchased for the sold purpose of sending them some entertainment. I have recieved several letters from them thanking me for what I have done--which I consider next to nothing and definately not enough. Its times like this that I wish I were wealthier than I am--so I could do more.

Sorry for my rant, and I do hope that A.N. Smith is resting in peace.

Hi Martin, basically all she was, was an attention-seeking, drug addicted, party girl who married a billionnaire. Said billionnaire died soon afterwards, and allegedly she was the sole aire of his fortunes. Billionnaires children fought for years over the rights to their fathers fortunes.

Its been a continuing Circus ever since. Oh and this gal even had her own and very stupid "reality show" which I watched about 5 minutes of--once--trying to figure the meaning of her show.

Yes she was beautiful (medically enhanced as well) but, celebrity-she was not.

I agree withyou all. Anna Smith is not relevant info,
and it is certainly not news. The sooner this leaves the headlines the better...:hypnotize:...

Yeah. It's still all over CNN as we speak. A couple of Marines or soldiers die in Iraq and the average American thinks "Gee, what a shame, glad I'm not over there" (if that). Then Anna Nicole Smith dies or the newest celebrity break up occurs and your average American says "OH MY GOD, I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!" and they are thoroughly intrigued, discussing it in the break room at work and following the developing story loyally for the next few days until a better one comes up.

It's probably a generational thing, but the 'Celebrity Culture' leaves me utterly cold. The UK, too, seems to have more than its' share of nonentities ( 'Slebs', 'WAGs', etc... ) with whose rather tiresome lives half the population seems fixated.....

I heard the comment the other day that she was...............

The rest of the quote was full of very strong language. So from what I can make out from the news there is nothing to concern us at all.

This could be a sort of 'Groundhog Day' thread....

...I can now say 'I'd never heard of Anna Nicole Smith until Otto....'

and Carl could chip in with :-

    '...basically she was just...'

    etc
    etc
    etc

    :p

Well said gentlemen, well said. Now if we could only just get all of the news reporting agencies to stop this nonsense.

Also, Za, I think you got all of us on this! I sure wish it were a case of not wasting bandwidth.

Where are reporters like ERNIE PYLE and Edward R. Murrow, when we need them?

BTW, Otto, Peppy, great job on restoring some decoration.

"Curtains would do wonders for this barrack. You will not get them."
