Anyone know more of this movie, any trailers etc...

Set in March, 1945 during the battle known as "The last great killing ground in the west" RHINELAND tells the story of a young replacement thrown into an under-strength mine platoon. A burned-out lieutenant and a bitter sergeant are his only guides as he struggles to come to terms with the brutality of war during the final bloody months of World War II.

Never heard of this movie but will watch out for info in it.

The only movie coming out this year that imreally looking forward to is: Comanchie Stallion which has James Arness (aka) Marshal Matt Dillon from Gunsmoke fame) and who came out of retirement just to do this movie for Harry Carey Jr. Also has Robert Carradine as a U.S. Cavalry Trooper. I don't remember who else is in it though.

Kai, Sorry for getting off-subject here ;-)

    Thanx Ian!

The trailer seems ok, and the US facing waffen-SS and MG42 so should be alot of action, too.

To me the trailer gives the impression of a b-movie small budget production done by an amateaur dramatic society with a very loose script.

I'm going to reserve my opinion 'til I see it. Saints & Soldiers was a small budget film and it was superb. A lot of the big budget WWII movies from the past few years have been absolute garbage, (Pearl Harbor, Captain Corelli's Mandolin, Hart's War). This also looks like a film that will make it into the mp40 Project with ease. ;)

    Yeah,

we´ll see. The clothes looked just fine, even one Sdkfz that looked good. I was more or less worried that they were talking so much....

I actually worked on this film. It's scheduled for a Fall release through VCI Entertainment. I believe that it's in line story-wise with films such as "A Midnight Clear" and "When Trumpets fade." Maybe a little "Big Red One" as well.

It starts off slowly, then builds to quite a lot of action. There is a large hilltop battle where an American infantry company attacks a dug-in German position, in addition to that, there are several squad-size skirmishes.

Lots of period vehicles, weapons, and uniforms throughout. The 84th Infantry division (Railsplitters) 2nd Rangers, 1st SS, and 38th Jagers Re-enactor groups all took part in the production.

It was comparable to "Saints and Soldiers" budget-wise.

The production company website 88mm Productions should be going back online shortly with more info soon.

Welcome to this site and thanks for the additional info about this movie. Ill definately give it a chance. I never cared much for "A Midnight Clear" but Saints and Soldiers was a pretty fair film.
