For me, it has to be the theme for Rat Patrol. Ever since I was a kid when I first saw the series, that theme caught my fascination. A very close second would be Combat. How about you?
Not sure which I could pick as my favorite but, I do like the following WWII TV series themes well enough: Theme from Baa Baa Blacksheep (aka) The Blacksheep Squadron.. Theme from: McHale's Navy. Theme from Twelve O'Clock High.
I like: The main themes from Patton, the Longest Day and "Suicide is Painless" from M*A*S*H, with honoray mention to the themes from Hogan's Heroes and The Great Escape. As you can tell from my selections, save MASH, I like martial music.
Dad's Army closely followed by It Ain't Half Hot Mum. Opening titles. YouTube - Dad's Army Closing titles. YouTube - Dad's Army= YouTube - It Ain't Half Hot Mum Titles
Who remembers the Colditz TV series of the 1970s. I was never allowed to watch it we had to go to church, all I remember is the theme tune. YouTube - Colditz Gone Away, Part 1 (clip 1)
Combat! Rat Patrol 12 O'clock High McHale's Navy (I was lucky enough to go for a 2 hr ride on the ACTUAL PT-73 used in the original series!)
I know someone is going to say something but...........Hogan Heros Ahhh good times........ Commandant it seems to be always threaten of being shot/downgraded
I can't name a favourite, but these are the ones I like: McHale's Navy Hogan's Heroes Rat Patrol Baa Baa Blacksheep You've got to love the openings; Great theme songs on all of them. The best movie themes have to include: The Great Escape A Bridge Too Far 633 Squadron Patton Battle of Britain (& 'Aces High')
For TV themes Colditz Secret Army Dads Army Das Boot Tenko (more the opening than closing theme) For Films The Dambusters The Bridge on the River Kwai Where Eagles Dare Battle of Britain 633 Squadron A Bridge too far
What a moroon, what an ignoranimous. The subject was favorite WWII series themes and I provided movie and a Korean War-ish themes. Here is a better answer: Even though I don't care for the show, I do like the them from Hogan's Heroes.
While not technically World War II, but very close I was always partial to this: "Tales of a Gold Monkey" YouTube - Tales of the Gold Monkey - Opening Credits That is one show I really miss.
I'd pick "Combat". I still remember choosing up sides (my cousin was always "Little John"and I was the small guy 'Le bew'?) and raising He:: around the nearby woods! Thanks for the trip back to yesterdays memories!
I remember doing the same with my brother and the neighborhood kids. So thank you for bringing that memory back.
