    Slipdigit,
I like your new avatar. The 31st Dixie Division. I wonder if much of the old custom has changed within the Division, such as marching with the Confederate flag in parade functions and the wearing of the Confederate lapel on the Class A uniform...Both Mississippi and Alabama had Army National Guard units that were a part of the Division (not sure if still do) during the '60's and '70's.

Thanks, I had several relatives who served with the Dixie Division in the Second World War and a grandfather that was in an divisional arty battalion during peace-time.

The 31st is now an armored NG brigade headquartered in Huntsville AL. It is transitioning to be part of the 149th Armored Brigade (a brigade in a brigade?), under the 35th Infantry Division (Mechanized) (NG).

Times, they be a changing. The flags of the Confederacy are banned now, as are the lapel pins. There was an Air National Guard wing here in town that used to have a circular patch that had the Southern Cross on it with a cobra superimposed over the cross. We modeled our paintball team patch on it 15 years ago. They were forced to change the design about 10 years ago.

The Mississippi Army National Guard unit I belong to is the 155th Infantry "Mississippi Rifles." Founded over 200 years ago, the unit has fought under Andrew Jackson, Jefferson Davis, the 39th and 31st Divisions during WWII and, now, in Iraq. When I was in the unit back in 1995, it was a part of the 1st Cavalry Division. Now we're (1st Battalion) a part of the 155th Armored Brigade which is a part of the 36th Infantry Division. This is all part of the National Guard's modularization program -to shorten divisional units to Brigade Combat Teams (BCT).

Just bought the collection of John Lennon songs as I don´t have one and I think he did make some excellent songs.

" Jealous guy " is the last I´ve been listening to

and this Xmas I´ll play the " Merry Xmas" several times...

For inspiration of getting up this morning, I played the Denis Leary CD: "No Cure For Cancer" and played the first tune over and over. The tune is called: "Asshole."
