    Small hint

The hull is from one country but the turret has been modified by another.

Well known .... ehm .... nearly sure the hull is a Matilda but the turret looks Soviet could be a field job.

Correct the hull is a Matilda II, whats the beast been grafted on the top though.

It was not a field mod but a trials vehicle. I do have a side view if it is too difficult.

Panzer212, do you mean F-96 as a tank gun or project? either way its not right (world of tanks does seem to have a Matilda II with such a weapon though 'Zis 96' I believe they call it).

Side view to prove it is a Matilda II, its a Soviet trial to see if it was possible to do. Maybe it can help narrow down the choice.

After checking the original source for this (the person who wrote the original article and has the documents in Russian) I will concede this.

The weapon is a ZIS 5 from a KV1 in these photos. The Russian article dated December 1941 and stamped Jan 1942 states the same.
However later on there is mention that the production version would have a F96 (a modified version of the ZIS 5) which was having production difficulty's. Since several Matilda CS versions were received with 3" guns to support the Matilda II units the project was dropped as the gun would have no other use.

So looks like you get to pose a teaser :)

Looks like a Matilda with a modified ZIS-3 cannon. Definitely lend-lease
