i read this a few days ago and honestly did not know how to respond, at first i wanted to pick them up and break them in two, then i felt bad for the brave soldiers, now i just feel sad, because i know that this is not, will not be an isolated incident. i'm sure it's happening somewhere even as i write this. it just makes me sad.

As Von Poop said, this really is disturbing. Some people are so ridiculous that really must question their sanity.

How...Why? I mean, what kind of insensative 'person' would hurl abuse at any disabled people who are undergoing therapy (I should imagine the hospital actually pays for the use of the pool anyhow), much less veterans?!

Erm, I very much doubt multiculturalism can be to blame. Far more to do with the idiotic system of education we have in place in most of the west.

...and I doubt whether the blame can be laid at the door of 'socialism'. For over twenty years our Governments ( of whatever party ) have espoused the wishes of the individual over consideration of society as a whole. Ergo - if you are offended at by the sight of disabled servicemen in a public place - then naturally, they are at fault, not you.

The incident is shameful but all-too-typical of the UK today.

As always, better put than I could have managed! I am dumbfounded that in a society which claims to be fairly advanced, 'cares in the community' and all that jazz, anyone could be so rude to anyone who is disabled, the circumstances under which they were injured just makes the incident all the more shameful.

On the up side, I was at a standup comedy gig the other week with some mates and one of them heckled the comedian (the standard satirical, irreverant sort) about something. The comedian then started to use his standard sort of heckle put down which naturally led to the fact that the chap in question is a rather large feller. My mate took it in his stride (you don't heckle unless you are ready for some sort of backlash) and it went on until another chap held up the cane my mate uses to walk. The comedian stopped in his tracks saying 'great, for the last five minutes I've been taking the micky out of a disabled man, ok, recover quickly, how were you injured?' The answer came 'I was blown up in Iraq' and to the credit of the comedian his reply was 'right, a disabled war veteran, ok...' This was followed by a very polite and humble (though totally un-asked for) apology. All in all it made me quite cheerful, maybe there is hope yet...

Thats it, we should make a law that requires that at birth all children are handed over to the government to be raised. This would be great, healtcare, food, and everything would no longer burden parents and allow them to work more.:)
