It's seems to be a POW indeed, but unfortunately there was no further information to the photo.

Looks a little shell-shocked to me, combined with trying to understand what the GI is trying to say. I'm sure he's a little scared about what might happen now that he has surrendered.

Now you say it, if you lok to the GI, I think he's trying to calm the German Soldier.

The chick in the center has a mug, that could sink the Battleship Tirpitz.

Anyway, i've seen this photo somewhere before, just don't know where?

Anyway, excellent photos and keep them coming.

The Nazis can sure throw a party. My favorite because if anything, they sure knew how to seduce the crowd. Good enough that it inspired George Lucas to use a similar technique in the movie Star Wars.

I'm trying to come up with the name for this pic...

    "Germans in Holland"?

    .. or "WW2 Pusher"?

All jocking aside, that is Lieutenant Finsterwalder. He died the day after this picture was taken. War is Hell...

. . .I have three (among many) to mention as my favorite WWII pictures.

    1. Pearl Harbor picture of Shaw blowing up.

This evokes much emotion in anyone knowing the history of Dec. 7th and
symbolizes the resolve needed to beat the Axis.

    2. The picture of the B-17 Wee Willie torn apart by flak in April, 1945.

    3. The picture of the B-24, hit by flak, where the wing begins to fold up with
    the resultant explosion.

These two pictures show in graphic detail just how quick things can go from
airman being "fine" to "facing an instant death".

    Happy New Year to all!

    Mike

How the place has changed today ! The same spot, taken from just about where Hitler and his chums were standing.....
