Don't know if this has been posted before, but let's see how long it lasts. But I'm thinking it might go fairly quick.
Out of ww2 to my personal favorite the 18th-19th century warfare!.............. uhhh give me a minute the picture was to big.......
I'll give you a do-over on this one, as your tired and just grabbed the pic from wiki. It's France, La Gloire, Armoured Frigate. Post something else once you've gotten some sleep.
This is easy any Brit should get this in a heart beat. Name of ship Battle it fought in and the Admiral also happends to be my favortie to!
Mark, You are still giving away the answer bud. When you copy the image from another site, the properties still contains the file name, which in this case is : http://www.artistsharbour.com/catalog/images/products/wood_chris/hms_victory_in_battle.jpg?osCsid=bb54922d8e926be81339ac5c3bb01066 What you should do is save the image to your computer and rename it. Something like "quiz" or "name ship" before uploading.
Hard to mistake HMS Victory for anything else, Gloire was nastier though the flag was a giveaway, Gloire and Warrior are the only sea going ironclads I can recognize, not that many 3 deckers around but if we start posting paintings of anonymous 74s it's going to get really tough. .
See, this is what happens when everyone has read "Last stand of the Tin can sailors" but me! I hope I get it for Christmas this year. Well done!
Takao got it, USS Samuel B Roberts, "The Destroyer Escort that Fought Like a Battleship"! Got the image from Little Wolf at Leyte by J. Henry Doscher Jr. Though I wouldn't recommend it for reading for accurate info on her battle either. Toss out the next.
Sorry about the delay, my internet was down since yesterday afternoon. I really wanted to post this on Pearl Harbor day. So what ship is this.
The hull does not look like a destroyer. A Minelayer? USS Terror looks close, but has a second funnel and crane.
