AAN HEN DIE VIELEN 1940-1945. In the back:Tingil teru Leerdam. Any idea what this is and how many were given?
"to those who fell 1940-1945" I have no Idea what the text on the back means, but Leerdam is a town in Holland. I assume this would relate to resistance fighters from the area that were KIA in Leerdam during the war? Can you provide a pic from the back, Kai?
Yes, that would point more to the direction of the Resistance than nazis. the memorial is being sold in the local net auction. I´ll see if he could send a pic from the backside. Thanx for the info Stevin!
AH! Tingieterij! That means "Tin Foundry"....Tin Foundry Leerdam is the place where this was made. The second pic says "Oranje Ver. Leerdam" which is Orange Foundation Leerdam. Orange foundations are all over the country. They are people who very much like the royal family (Called Orange...) and organize festivities on days of interest, like royal birthdays and Queensday. They are usually very patriottic and would be an organization which would have such a statue manufactured to commemorated those who fell in defense of the country. I have never seen/heard of this one before....How much is it going for? I doubt, but am not sure, that it would be very seeked after in Holland though.....
