have you guys seen this ? Ïåðâûé íîâîñòíîé âèäåîïîðòàë get on the front page and click the top right image. reception is a bit rough, but the film clip explains it all from the a/c to the crews personal effects. Salute to the fallen !! E ~
Thank you for sharing, Erich. Some of the recovered items looked remarkably well preserved, the Tokarev pistol in particular. The personal effects of the crew were also in very good condition which will be a big help in their identification.
Excellent find, and its in my native tongue!! Oh and I love your new signature Erich! P.S. That same plane will be restored and in a few years will fly again along with the others that have been found. Says the narrator.
Slon keep us posted on updates if you would or can, it appeared towards the films end that the heap of debris as you said was drying out and ready for an overhaul and getting the bird back into operating condition would be a unique venture and success. thanks for the note on the siggy, thought it was rather special showing the victor and the vanquished
One thing that I found incredible was the condition of the debris. Since the plane was virtually in a vacuum, nothing deteriorated. The gun had no rust and the bullets were still shinny, even the parachute was white! Amazing.
here is a question ........ did it appear that this ground attack craft crashed into a swamp ? one of the bodies recovered from what they did show looked well preserved his flight book was in excellent condition and you are right his side arm looked almost new.......did they mention what unit the crew and A/C, year were from as my understanding of the language is nil E ~
Ok this is what I got... The plane was shot down by German planes on the 12 January 1944 over Pskov. In the pocket of the pilot was a letter which was clear enough to read, congratulating him on his Red Star medal from his mom. The two men died in the air. Pilot- Gregory Fedrenko and Gunner- Ivan Krelov Out of the 36K Il2's produced not a single one existes capable of flying from that time. They are currently working on a couple and hopefully they will be restored and up in the air in a couple of years.
Great find Erich...with regard to the reception, if you hit "pause" for a few minutes and then "play", the video plays fine.
