I have to say we didn't do a lot of searching... but still we did some nice finds, in particular my friend who found a very nice US 105mm shell and some other stuff.

Those look like deer stands, and with that bow you've got, I'm wondering, is it deer season over there?

Here the story, and findings of last weekend in the Eifel/Ardennes forest.
On Saturday 31 May my friend from Alphen and his son picked me up early in the morning, we went to a location near the German/Belgium border where the Ardennes offensive started. When we got there and went in the woods immediately thousands of mosquito's where on us, at the end of the day I had 61 mosquito bites. But we went on and we found some nice stuff that day. I found a US overcoat with all the buttons on it, a RVS US canteen cup, parts of a German gasmask and other small stuff. My friend also found a US overcoat with buttons, a coca cola bottle from 1943 and other items. Well after a long day of mosquito's and digging we drove to the Ardennes to get some sleep, taking a route through the forest we saw some foxholes near the road... It was raining and we were tired so we didn't want to search anymore that day. The next day our plan was to drove to the spot where we saw the foxholes and than back the place we searched the first day. When we get there on the location we only took our shovel and detector with us, because we didn't thought were going to find much on that location, because we know nothing about it. Well my friend walks in the forest and in the first foxholes he gets a signal and began to dig, after a few minutes he calls me and says; "I think I got an helmet!". It was early in the morning and I heard this joke before.. so I said; "Yeah right".... But I went to look... and indeed, its looks like an German helmet! After several minutes the first(!) M42 helmet saw daylight... after that 4 more helmets were to come from the foxhole, and 3 full SturmGewehr 1944 magazines and an empty MP40 magazine...
Lucky him!... We couldn't believe our eyes. Even one of the helmets got an bullet hole! Right through the front, through the leather, and out backwards. Very impressive.
Off course we searched the woods in the environment and in another foxhole I also found 3 Sturmgewehr 1944 magazines, 1 empty, 2 where full.
After that we found some small dump holes with bottles and other items.

A weekend to remember, and with a truckload of helmets back home.

    US overcoat, what remains...
