I have recently purchased a Mauser k98 and I am looking to mount a scope onto it. I do not wish to replace the rear sight post with a picatinny rail system and a pistol scope and I also do not wish to have a scope that sits on the side of the rifle. However after looking online those seem to be my only options. Does anyone know any other way in order for me to mount a scope, so that it does not interfere with the bolt, and it is stable and reliable. Thanks
so am I understanding you correctly.......you are wanting to sporterize this thing ? why not just leave it in WW2 condition if it is truely a WW2 piece
My idea is to hunt with it... so I would like to put a scope on it. Unfortunately the old scopes from WWII are both expensive, and no where near as good as today's. So in essence I would like to modernize it to a degree without destroying the rifle.
There are many makers of scope mounts of all types for the 98 Mauser. These in particular look good for minimal modifications: Home Page And a good book on Mauser actions in general: http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=661999 tom
