1. A member of the merchant navy bobbing around in the ocean after your freighter was sunk by a sub. Is that a shark fin in the distance? 2. USAF tail gunner on a daylight raid over Berlin. Casualties in bomber command were excessive and horrific. 3. A Japanese soldier anywhere near the action. No food, disease, life expectancy of 0, brutal commanders. 4. Anyone, civilian or soldier/airman, on the eastern front. 5. In Leningrad. Or a concentration camp.
Would want to be in Berlin when the Red Army was banging on it's doors their BM-14s, but you'd only have to worry about that if you survived numerous bombing raids carried out by the British. Stalingrad was in a much better position to be reinforced, Berlin was surrounded and then basically exterminated. Honestly i would have taken the spiritual Nazis over the barbaric Stalinist rule, Albeit two hells one just that one you might have a chance to survive in given you weren't classified part of the jewish plague as Hitler so elequaintly put it.
One of the German POW´s caught in Stalingrad starting the long march towards Siberia in my summer clothing....I always shiver when I see the pics of surrendered Germans in early feb 1943 in Stalingrad...What a cold hell ahead...
Actualy, if you compare precentage of German and Soviet POV's who made it through the oposite camps - Germanse had a better chanses of pulling it off . I sure would't want to be a Jew in Auschwitz!
Oh, this is a toughie. Many places I would not want to be. - In Stalingrad as a POW - In a concentration camp - In Hiroshima or Nagasaki at the time of the dropping of the bomb - In Dresden or Rostock during the firestorms Too much to choose from. I may as well and join von Poop and stay out of war.
Too many to choose from.......... 1. I would not want to be fighting on the German side from late 43'. 2. I would not want to be a Jew in any occupied German territory. 3. I woud not want to be a Russian soldier in the opening days of Barbarossa. 4. I would not want to be present in Leningrad while being besieged by the "spiritual Nazis." And many many more.....
Too easy: any jew in auschwitz of course. But also, i wouldn't have wanted to be Stauffenberg in the moment when he heard at the radio that hitler was alive. i can't imagine something more shocking... he must have thought that the devil himself had brought hilter back to life.
Oh man, cold and starving and making a foot march into Siberia. I'd rather have a Soviet put a bullet in my head. Any of Hitler's "fortress's"........fight til the last bullet. The first wave on June 6.
I would not want to be on the "recieving end" of any of the wars largest most worst artillery barrages: i.e: Tobruk, El Alamein, Bastogne and any on the Eastern Front etc. Also, I would not have wanted to experiance the hell, that was the BAttles for the Hurtgen Forest.
don't want to be on the recieving end of anything that goes boom. Attu Island with improper equipment and not enough supplies. And I don't want to be near any Kamikaze attacks
Below decks on the USS Arizona Dec.7. In a Sherman tank during Goodwood. Driver of any German vehicle anywhere near Normandy.
I'm surprised that none of our American members haven't opted for this. SO I'll do it. -Shovelling shit in Louisianna.
