Is MG3 considered somewhat obsolete in terms of tactical flexibility compared to the SAW group MG?

    There y'are Ike.

Wolfey, it isn't as useful as a squad automatic weapon if only because it isn't 5.56 however when you consider that the GPMG is now in constant use as a dismounted infantry weapon (even being bought in large numbers by the US, though I love the fact they are sending them our old kit for once) I can't see why the MG3 wouldn't be useful in the same role.

I came across some Browning HPs and 1911s. Didn't personally see any PPsh or SKS. Some gold-plated AKs and HK MP5's, assorted shotguns and the like. Even a .22cal AK-style rifle. Somehow it made it through the screening process all the way to our Iraqi Police Station. As they pulled it off the truck and handed it to me, I thought it looked a little odd so I set it aside. Came back later for a closer look. Yep.. a .22cal I was told is used for hunting birds over there. That went back up the food chain with a nasty-gram for the supply guys to pay closer attention.

Care to elaborate why? Opinions are not worth much if you cannot provide justification.

Because it isn't one. Slipdigit is one of the Moderators here. He is pointing out to you that all you are doing is posting opinions with no sources or any input as to how you came to them.

That was what I expected to hear from you. WHAT do you base your opinion on? Since you have never owned one or probably seen one in person. From a book or doucumentary or perhaps from a videogame? WHY do you think so.

It may be the best "small-arm" they came up with, but many would say that their MG-42 takes that spot.

I find it bizzare that Hitler abandoned the idea of widespread use of the 44. Of course they could not supply all their soldiers with the weapon, but giving them to soldiers in tight positions would have been a huge morale boost.

I remember reading once that 5000 of these weapons were air-lifted an dropped to surrounded Germans who made a breakthrough. When asked by Hitler what the soldiers need they replied more of these (stg-44's)

Hitler had promised the German people "wonder weapons" yet how could a man of his stature, an not to mention a veteran of frontline warfare disregard the weapon as"ugly". I dont buy it.
