    Hi Carl !

Well I finally made it here on these excellent forum issues. You guys have done a great job.
I have to point something out about this tabulation of German pilots. This actual list is a copy of one that belongs to Michael Holm who runs a Luftwaffe History site. This list includes all the mentioned as well as aces down to the victory of 7. Hopefully the lister of this will not have a copyright problem with Michael and has had the decentcy to contact him first.

    Horrido !

Geez ! reply to my own reply......

looks like the lister of the victory tabulation has got a link to Michael Holms site. So I can only assume he has been given permission to use it.

    Kühl !

I know you should never say never, but...I think it's safe to say that this number will never be topped. Barring of course some new global conflict where many nations of relatively equal military power participate. This isn't the case now, nor will it be anytime in the forseeable future.

To put Hartmann's tally into perspective, consider this: The whole of the US Flying Tigers, accounted for less than 300 downed aircraft. As well, the Blonde Knight only truly became 'productive' in the summer of 1943, before which he had only about 20 kills, and he never, ever lost a wingman.

    Unfathomable!
