Hello: Ah! I can finally post. I had a little problem with being able to post in the last few weeks. Sent a message to OTTO and he hooked me up! Thank you Otto! My name is Marc, I have a B.S. in History from Bridgewater (MA) State College. I live in Bristol County Massachusetts. I wrote a senior thesis on "The Yalta Conference and the Division of Post WWII Europe". That class was taught by a Pole who actually killed Nazis in Poland when he was a kid! (The B.S. is 20 years old nowadays.) Since my thesis did not advocate the immediate and utter nuclear destruction of the Soviet Union, thus freeing the Communist enslaved Poland, I only got a "C". I've been a history buff as long as I can remember, especially if it has to do with WWII in the Pacific. One grandfather drove landing craft for the USN at placed like Okinawa and Iwo Jima, and lived to tell about it. My other grandfather missed getting drafted and going to France in 1918 with an appendectomy. I also had an Uncle who was a Aviation Mechanics Mate (sheet meta repair) who served in the Philippines in 1944-45. I have all his campaign medals, his uniform and lots of original USN paperwork from his service. I hope the forum helps fill in some blanks I have about his service. Well, I now have to jump in and start reading some threads, see what I can learn.
Welcome Marc! You will find both specialists for the European and the Pacific Theather, so I reckon I will cross your posts again.
Welcome! I'm specialist of German History. But almost everyone here is specialist on Allied History so you have good luck findings your answers!
I was also a history major -- I was that nerdy gal who always got A's on her history papers despite having hated history in high school. Welcome to the forum.
I was a nursing major. I took history classes for "fun", as long as I could afford to. This was back in the early 80s, when school cost about $300 for 20 hours per quarter. Messed up the curve for the rest of them? Fun wasn't it?
welcome, I was also a history major in college with 2nd in Art History, history major was in medieval studies and ww 2. small world eh ?
I'm sorry, but I've stopped welcoming new members - we seem to have had a rash of 'newbies' recently who are never seen again.
Hey! I'm still here! I hate being busy at work... It keeps me away from the various forums I frequent. I have been reading some of the threads around here.
