pretty sure it isn't a Krag, so only other possibility is a civilian weapon, maybe a Norwegian Mannlicher?
because none of the versions i can find photos of match the one in your photo. for a start it doesn't have the side magazine - unless i'm totally misreading the photo, it has either a mag or a plate in the conventional position, which the krag doesn't. 2nd the twin forestock bands are not krag typical - krag ones appear to connect on the underside third the forward sling swivel and band is too far forward, although some models are different and there is too much exposed barrel imo, although granted that could be a mod also.
I give up, you win. It IS a Krag Jørgensen, not sure about the model(I have one of these myself so i know it is a Krag Jørgensen). You can tell by the sling, the sling has to positions, you can attach it to the front of the rifle, near the muzzle which makes the sling tighter and better to shoot, or you can attach to near the hand guard to carry it on your shoulder.
not convinced - the normal position magazine is a giveaway and far forward sling swivels are not unheard of on other rifles. maybe you can get a photo of yours from the same angle? i haven't been able to find a krag at exactly that angle so is less easy to be 100% certain. I'll take your word for it though as is your question - go ahead and post another
It is a Krag Jørgensen, i am 101% sure about that. Here is another picture from my collection, name the place, and if you can, name the ship.
Thanks Vegar! Locations are good topics, where is this river shown on the pic located? One hind not PTO.
while i have the link - for finding the ship in Vegar's pic here is the list of all ships it could be (page 21); http://funsite.unc.edu/hyperwar/UN/UK/LondonGazette/38017.pdf haven't found it yet
