What does the Lehr in the title Panzer Lehr Regiment stand for, or what is the translation as best can be found in English?

As I understand it, "Lehr" can best be translated as "Learning". How ever "Panzer Lehr" is not "Panzer Training Division", as the word for training(-unit) is "Ausstelle".

I think the word "Lehr" refers to the status of the division in training and development in Panzer tactics, but am probably wrong on this one. It is a rather uneducated guess.

The best translation is "demonstration." As in, the unit was a "hands on" training unit that showed other units how to operate tanks in units operationally and tactically.
