Would you come to a rogues gathering in the UK?

  1. Yes, about time we got together!

  2. No way, you rogues are far too scary and I'm a bit of a hermit!

Well, T. A. Gardner suggested something for the US but how about looking into the possibility of some sort of get together over here? Maybe a gathering at an appropriate venue (Duxford or the IWM springs to mind) and lunch, something as simple as that?

First thing to do is work out how much interest there is, so, if we were to organise a get together somewhere in the UK who would be interested in coming along?

I'm interested Stefan, but couldn't make any snap meetings due to distance.

Too wishy washy, either yes you are up for it or no, its a bonkers idea, 'other' implies some sort of existential quandry.

Tank museum isn't a bad idea but I was thinking maybe something a bit more central that everyone can get to, having tried to get to Bovvy from Sheffield I shudder to think of the tribulations Gordon would face!

..nice idea ...but I think distance is going to defeat most of us.......having never ever actually been north of Leicester myself my suggestion would be for a venue in London in the first instance ........

Great idea, stefan. I would be 'up for it' if it were a central location and was planned well in advance.

Sorry Stefan, I just HAD to say it. :D

Distance defeats me too. I think the only member from within an hour of me made five posts and left.
And I HATE travelling. Unless it's by air, but then you got the damn blasted airports.

Come off it Joe, I'm only an hour and a half away in Sheffield, probably less by rail.

Thinking about it London makes sense because looking at the general spread, it's probably the easiest place to get to. I guess that's the next question, who would be willing to travel to London?

London would be fine for me btw, but I have bad memories of driving down overnight to Dorset on holiday when I was a kid. And we're only talking late '70s, before anyone starts making cracks about Ford Pops or Morris Travellers.....

So Gordon would come but have a team of PTSD specialists on hand just in case?

I know the perfect place, just off the strand, historical, friendly and great beer.

You're only in the next county from me, Joe...around an hours drive i'd say.

I would consider London, a return train ticket to the capital can be had for around £20...if it's booked well in advance. The thought of that great beer swayed me...:D

How about a pub that dates back to the 13th century and was a haunt of that eminent brain box Doctor Samual Johnson (author of 'return of the killer dictionary')? Serves Samuel Smiths beer and has loads of very nice Austrailian bar maids...erm...staff.

Nice idea, but for me, I will have to wait until 2011 as I got far too much on my plate plus a number of other issues along with money problems big time. I must work my way through this lot before I stand any chance of a meet up.

Good luck to you all if you go ahead before I'm free.

Right, well, that's that sorted. Next question is when? Anyone have any preferences? I'd be thinking some time in summer, June time maybe?

Hi guys, London and June sound good to me. What do you think about the Imperial War Museum as a meeting venue?

Virgin Trains do cheap tickets (via a phone call and not web) if you book well in advance.

If anyone fancies a night on the p**s afterwards (or before) please vote yes?...:sniper:
