There's absolutely nothing wrong with "washing out ones eyes," from time to time. The last time I shed tears, was when my friends seven year old Daughter-who just all too recently; passed away due to cancer in her brain.

    Rest in Peace Brianna. :mourn:

    My Public Apology

I just want to take this chance to apologe to my comments on soldiers that cryed. What i ment to say was that soldier under pattons control was not injured. He was perfect fine incept for a little shocked. I just find it rude and agaisnt honor that he is not out there when he is post to help defend the country. If he cryed somewhere else i beilvebve it would of been acceptable. I did not mean to offend anyone. I have GREAT GREAT GREAT RESPECT for the soldiers who risked thier lives wither they cryed or not. My Comments were confusing and were not what i ment to say. I do apologize for my comments on the crying soldiers in this thread.

Soldiers have been crying for thier comrades and for alot of other reasons due to war for thousands of years. Patton was and is wrong. He was wrong to slap the soldiers and he was wrong for saying that "soldiers dont cry". Though from what I have read he never actually said that.

"On August 17, 1943, General F.A. Blesse, the Chief Surgeon at AFHQ brought to General Patton a letter from Eisenhower. It read, "I am attaching a report which is shocking in it's allegations against your personal conduct. I hope you can assure me that none of them is true; but the detailed circumstances communicated to me lead to the belief that some ground for the charges must exist. I am well aware of the necessity for hardness and toughness on the battle field. I clearly understand that firm and drastic measures are at times necessary in order to secure the desired objectives. But this does not excuse brutality, abuse of the "sick", nor exhibition of uncontrollable temper in front of subordinates."
Some others obvioulsy did not think it was "Kool". In regards to the soldier" He was perfect fine incept for a little shocked'.

"The soldier was immediately picked up by corpsmen and taken to a ward tent. There he was found to have a temperature of 102.2 degrees F and he gave a history of chronic diarrhea for about one month, having at times as high as ten or twelve stools a day. The next day his fever continued and a blood smear was found to be positive for malarial parasites. The final disposition diagnosis was chronic dysentery and malaria. This man had been in the Army eight months and with the 1st Division since about June 2d."

KTH, time and experience, as well as learning from places like the stories on the Forum will eventually give you wisdom. At 15, perhaps you were dealt with little harshly but in the end you've shown you could clarify your position. Read about other soldiers and leaders of all kinds, as you will learn that just because someone was tactically gifted like Patton didn't mean he was a good man. And that discussion belongs in its own thread.

Being a memorial day thread, I'll add:

It is the VETERAN, not the preacher, who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the VETERAN, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the VETERAN, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the VETERAN, not the politician, who has given us the right to vote.

It is the VETERAN, who salutes the Flag, who serves and has served under the Flag,

As a young man i thought crying was a weakness... A lot of young men think this, as an older man i cry for a lot of things... I prey you never do have to cry over your buddy who died or your brother or friend... war is ultmatly for a lot of people about pain... physical emotional spiritual and tears are a way of cleansing these wounds
