hey guys just joined up to the site i have been interested with WW2 for years as my grampa used to collect lots of relics and memorabilia (i mean tons of the stuff) luftwaffe pilot clothing-SS helmets etc..(mostly german) so i gues its from there so i guess like everyone else on here im after a bit more information on WW2 also do you guys welcome metal detectorists as i know some people hate them -they way i look at it is WW2 finds that are better on display than under a foot of dirt well thats me done cheers chris
thanks again guys im also in the process of a family tree (hard work) my other grandad was in North Africa (egypt) you know of any welsh regiments that went there? im also planning a trip when i get 6 weeks off through a few european countries looking forward to austria anyone know of any trips to the eagles nest ?
Welcome aboard, Chris! Collectors of the American Civil War use metal detectors all the time. I've never seen any particular beef against them.
Welcome Chrish and don't worry about the metal detectorists, we appreciate them and they often post their finds in the militaria section.
cheers guys i follow the code of practise take all the litter with u replace holes with what came out ive been on youtube all day and found loads of guys metal detecting and you should see some of the finds would i be allowed to detect on a battlefield etc.. i will be asking farmers etc to scan theyre land with permission
Welcome! You will find many of us use metal detectors here! Most of the threads here are by you lucky buggers over there! The only thing I get to dig up now and then is the occasional screwdriver lost by a farmer!
