i recon the best tank destroyer was the sherman firefly.what do you think.please let us know about details, gun, ammunition etc.thankyou.lee.
I understand that all of you will favour western equipment but I say that soviet ISU-152 was the best anti-tank tool during the WWII. It was a proper animals killer as Russians call it. There was absolutely no equivalent to it. Jag Tigers and Jag Panthers too poor equipped/armoured. Just wonder what you say guys. Regards, Jackal
Mines. Economical, 24/7, all weather. Bring them to a halt, then pick them off by any means. They don't usually get credit for much, but without them, defense would be much harder, and a tank is usually a weapon of attack. Even Elephants and Tiger 1s at Kursk dropped out one after another because of mines. No movement, makes for a sitting "Duck".
Normally I would say Hans Ulrich Rudel but there are no aircrafts allowed and so no pilots... So I would agree with Martin - the german 88mm Pak and maybe the german 88mm Paw.
Panzerfausts- that is considered, ok how about eh Panzerschreck ? not enough numbers Stug III still did the job and readily available in huge numbers that closed the open gaps especially on the Ost front, there never was enough Wehrmacht AT weapons to be dealt out
My pick is the JagdPanther. A well-armored, mobile platform for the 88mm Pak 43/3 L/71 gun, itself tops in antitank effectiveness. tom
well I would agree more with the Jagdpanther if it had been available in any type of numbers, but for it in the heavy destroyer Battalions it was hardly felt by the enemy, so very few delivered operationaly
