    Greetings and Hallucinations!

    Hummel here. :)
I like bumblebees, and when I was a little kid, my brother Chris and I used to play PanzerBlitz and PanzerLeader and the Hummel was the most devastating piece on the board. I also just like the way it looks. In no way am I a supporter of the Nazis, ok? Get that out front. :)
Finally, I am signing up on the anniversary of my Mom's passing, and she LOVED Hummels -- those little cute ceramics from Germany, so this is also an homage to her.

Anyhow, I LOVE talking about WW2 stuff, but I don't know as much as I would like. I am more of a superficial buff than a hardcore afficianado. I don't know lots of dates or incredible detail. I know some weapons, some vehicles, planes especially, and some real stories from relatives who were in the war.

I look forward to lots of fun and interesting posts from folks, and I am already fascinated with the quiz forum.

In real life, I am a married man, a grammar school teacher in California who used to be a university level English professor. We have two sons, two cats, and a nest of doves living under the eave 5 feet over our washing machine. The wife and I love nature, photography, gaming, films, gaming, animals, gaming, travel, working with kids, and gaming. We also met in an online game called Everquest. Oh, we love to cook too. We also like to shoot -- targets, not critters.

Sorry to be rambling, but I thought, what the heck, go with the whole stream of consciousness thing, right? hehehe

Oh, and for those who said "Uh Oh, an English teacher, he is gonna be an idiot about spelling and grammer." Let me put those fears to rest. I was the English teacher the kids WANTED to get. I used movies like Aliens and Journey to the Center of the Earth in my classroom. :)

Okay, enough babble. I will be around.

    Best,
    Hummel

Hello Hummel. Welcome to the forum. Do you know that a part of the Kammhuber line was also called Hummel? Don't worry about being a teacher, there are more on this forum and we get along fine.

Heh, I am actually picking up some extra money in between the regular year and summer school. I am grading tests online for ETS (Educational Testing Services -- the SAT, GRE, CAHSEE people) and am grading a standardized test given to 2nd-3rd-4th graders. Right now, I am grading 2nd graders. They have to write a sentence of 7 words or more describing what they see in a picture. The picture is of two women and one man looking at a model of a suspension bridge on a table. Over the table is a poster or large photo of the same bridge. The test I just graded, 2nd grade remember, read:
"There are three people, two women and a man, probably the architects, examining the prototype of the bridge while comparing it to the large plan above the model."
I wanted to give it a higher grade than is available.

Hummel -- Welcome to the forum. You will enjoy your time here, I am sure. Learn much and contribute what you can! As for you being a grammar school teacher, I shall gladly trade professions with you, as I am a lawyer. ;)

I hope that the student whose paper you are grading had help from a cheating adult. Otherwise, I am dumbfounded!

We're not going to hold it against you that you are a grammar teacher, but the doves are another thing entirely!

    Seriously, though...Welcome aboard!

The doves are there for entertainment for our cats. They sit at our back door, staring and staring. I can even see what they're thinking . . .

Welcome to the Forum, Hummel. Thanks for the informative first post - it always makes it more fun to know with whom I am exchanging posts! As you have no doubt learned already, the Rogues have a lot of information and humour to share. I already look forward to your posts.
