Definitely put him next to Madonna and Brad Pitt. That way no one will see him......

Yeah I had to laugh at that. If it was only that easy in the 30's.

It is a fact that Hitler existed, there's no way to go round the fact. Trying to erase him is impossible, it's even immoral.

Why, if we criticise the Soviet system for airbrushing people out in photographs, are we going to erase other figures we do not like? Do we still remember how people laughed at Soviet photos of groups of people, and the next time the same photo was published the person in question is absent, becoming what was called a non-person?

    Hellooooo? Yezhov, where are you?

Have we forgotten that even Gorbatchev (much later than Stalin's death) had his head birthmark airbrushed off? Ridiculous, wasn't it?

Are we going to do the same?

Should I pick up my WW2 books and rip off any photos with Hitler, Himmler, Mussolini, Pétain, etc, etc? I think not. Those figures existed and it's well that we remember they did exist, we can't play ostrich and pretend they weren't there because they were.

I looked at both articles. I think they should have something beside the figure that indicates the horror he caused, not just a sign that asks people not to pose or take photos out of respect for those who were killed, as that doesn't indicate his responsibility for it. While I find him repellant (I intentionally did not go to the exhibit with his car at the Canada War Museum) and I find myself reluctantly in agreement with Za's post that it can't be forgotten that he did exist. Which then makes me think about the other thread on posing as someone in the SS....it all comes down to the moral compass of those who display and those who are viewing.

Personally, however I find nothing interesting about seeing wax figures of anyone - historical or otherwise. So except for the news items would never have seen it.

Doesnt sound like those security guards put up much of a fight. He pushed through two of them and tore the head off? I can't imagine it being that easy to do such a thing to a wax model. You'd expect security guards to be able to react quick enough to recover and seize the man. I get the feeling they just kinda stood by and let it happen, then arrested him once he had done the deed.
