I made a slight detour recently to Fort Knox Kentucky while visiting the National Corvette Museum, sports car not warship, in Bowling Green Kentucky. I came across a listing for the Patton Museum at the tourist desk. My wife bailed out at a mall close to Fort Knox, so I could take my time. Great Museum!
Good stuff, I like the look of them all laid out on the 'lawn' like that, the nomenclature and dates applied to look like tactical markings is quite pleasing too. Cheers, Adam.
On April 1, 2011, the museum that honors hard-charging General George Patton at Fort Knox, Kentucky, had its grand reopening. Previously known as the Patton Museum of Cavalry and Armor, it is now the General George Patton Museum of Leadership; the "Calvary and Armor" portion relocated to Fort Benning, Georgia. The armor from the Patton Museum at Fort Knox has been moved to Fort Benning. Just wanted to share that so that other forum members won't make a trip there expecting to see tanks. Slipdigit, A-58 and I saw that Pershing with the T-34 kill marks at Fort Benning on Saturday. I don't know what is up at the Patton museum now.
They have a few American tanks that came back in 2012, but the collection was mostly moved to Benning. The museum has been refocused on leadership instead of armor. Web link to the Patton Museum: http://www.generalpatton.org/index.asp
