I just read about Band of Brothers in World War two presents magazine. It talked about a sence with an attack on Bastogne with over 400 german soldiers and 9 tanks. I can't wait to see that. If half of what they say about band of brothers is true its gonna be one hell of a movie. So is Otto still gonna make that Band of Brothers site and has anyone heard of the new Nick Cage about the navho code talkers.
Saw the first two episodes of Band Of Brothers last night, did anybody else? The second one, Day of Days was excellent, the combat was very similar to Saving Private Ryan

The film is called Windtalkers and you can read about it by going to this site's film archive or for a shortcut, right here: http://www.ww2n.com/films/db/windtalkers/
Well, its my 1699th posting, so I will see if I have something intelligent to add to this topic. Yessssss I do. I heard that the first two episodes were very well done. Did you know that this was being filmed in Switzerland and while I was there? I didnd get to visit where they were filming as my friend and I were going to Solothurn to the Old Arsenal to see all the weapond and suits of armor stored there. I highly recommend anyone going to Europe and that will be within a few hours of Solothurn Switzerland, to go visit the Old Arsenal--you will regret not visiting.
Some might have been in England, but some was also filmed in Switzerland--maybe just certain scenes? or wintery type scenes? Take care.
Hey, can someone describe how the German uniforms look and their range of weaponry? As a collector, im interested in those types of details. Gosh I hope they arent as bad as the socalled "German" uniforms that were used in the series "The Rat Patrol" even though Hans Gudegasts Afrika Korps uniform looked pretty decent even if they did use real British Battledress uniforms.
I've seen M43 and M41 tunics and some fallschimer stuff too. I'll have to watch the tape again to see extactly what it is. I've also seen a 3.7 antitank gun, plenty of mg42s, mp40s, k98s. I'm watching the new episode tonight and maybe I'll see some new stuff. I'm hoping to see some mp44s in the later episodes.
Carl- Just saw a "behind the scenes" on the making of Band of Brothers, and it was filmed in England for the duration. The snow scenes were made with apparatuses that looked like leaf blowers. The set was actually very hot, but the actors had to look like they were freezing. Anything for the camera, I suppose. The Fallshirmjager gear looked pretty darn accurate to me. I never realized how much smaller their jump helmets were when compared to the conventional Wehrmacht. They looked like something out of Devo's "whip it" video in the early '80s
G'day For our European members. Just saw the announcement on the BBC. Band of Brothers starts there on October 5th. So tune in A very glad Popski
Quick question: In the forth episode which was just aired, we see a formation of planes fly over Easy Company directly after they land in Holland for Market-Garden. I believe they were British Mosquitoes. Can anyone confirm this???
Looked like Mossies to me,too. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Erich Hartmann: Quick question: In the forth episode which was just aired, we see a formation of planes fly over Easy Company directly after they land in Holland for Market-Garden. Beats me, they might have made like with the german tanks. Can anyone find anything inacurate with the jagdpanther because I can't.
PG, many thanks. I also finally got to see part of one episode, the one just before the Battle of the Bulge. Im buying this series as soon as it is available on DVD. "Bubi" thanks for the correction. I guess I was wrong from a year ago. See when I was staying with a friend of mine in Rickenbach, Switzerland, there was alot of BoB stuff in their news and he told me that some swon scenes were supposed to be filmed in the mountains not too far from where he lives. Apparently, he was mistaken and so was I. All I know though, is what they talked about on Swiss T.V. and what my friend translated for me. This is also when I first heard about an American B-17 Fort and a German ME Fighter both being shotdown in Switzerland during ww2. Apparently, the wreckage of both aircraft had just been discovered. They gave a story of the German pilot being killed and the US Crew were inturned for the duration. I wish I had a tape of those news stories though, because they had mentioned in at least one or two that my friend and I saw, that the winter scenes were to be filmed in Switzerland. Ultimately though as you kindly pointed out, they werent, and I wonder why not?? Costs, I guess??
