Typical ... New I should have posted before having my dinner Yep, that's what I had ... The "Laister-Kauffman XCG-10A" Nice find on the photos Lou, the only one I came across was the same shot 343 posted ... Well done.
Here are a couple more of the XCG-10 ========================== Now, for my entry into the quiz.... .... this is an easy one..... but I just like the name of the plane...... .... so, the first one to provide the 'popular' name for the plane and make me giggle wins. -whatever -Lou
As Jagdtiger1 said, I believe iti is the F4F-S3 "Wildcatfish" that never made it past the prototype stage, only the one was made, it was a disappointment apparently.
That's the 'official' (read 'boring') name of the plane.... but not the one I was looking for..... I'm NOT giggling. teeheehee!....a Wildcat seaplane... aka the 'Wild Catfish'..... you gotta' love it! yer go, Jagd- -whatever -Lou
According to this website (Daveswarbirds), the conversion to Wild Catfish was performed by the Edo Corporation (manufacturer of seaplane floats), and they provided 100 pairs of floats to the Navy. I don't know whether it was a 'disappointment' so much as, as he points out, ".... the changing nature of the war in the Pacific" that canceled the project. But the name lives on! Wild Catfish! -whatever -Lou
Hello JagdtigerI, finally I found your page it is the Norwegian Kjeller FF 6 (T.2) 1921 But: the first year of the war was 1939 and not 1940 Norway Regards Kruska
Hello guys, this one really struck me whilst searching for JagdtigerI's "1939" aircraft. It does look like the forrunner of the Mustang doesn't it?? View attachment 6714 Damn British copycats Regards Kruska
What!?? barely half an hour to find out :headbash::headbash: going to get :drink_a_pint: Good one T.O.S. you are up Regards Kruska
Hi Kruska, In my mind what I meant by the first year of the war was not 1939 but Sept. 1 1939- Sept. 1 1940. Sorry for the confusion
